What is this event all about? It's calling itself the Speedway World Championship FFS and it looks to have FIM backing. I may have thought that it was an SGP Qualifier or something, but why would Krzyszpy Kzakesz be in a qualifier for an event that he is secure in already?

KK is currently 7 point short of 8th place and in no way at all "secure" of qualifying. In fact, even Emil isn't at the moment.

8 riders qualify as of right, the rest of the line-up for 2014 will be down to the qualifiers and to BSI. I would hardly think that those who tread the podiums will be in much danger of not getting wild cards if nothing else. Added to which, KK is quite capable of making up 1 point per meeting on the old men of the sport.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Gollob and Hancock retire at the end of this campaign anyway, so that's two of the top 8 that won't be back and whose places will need to be filled. I would be majorly surprised if KK wasn't in the SGP's in 2014

The thread that covers this is deep into it's fifth page in the SGP section of the forum.

I do hope all these massive non-resized pictures aren't the reason for the forum to be at a crawl most of the time.

They shouldn't be. Images are usually linked to third party sites. For that reason, the speed of the BSF server isn't affected. You might be reduced to the speed of the slowest server when viewing a page that includes these images, but only on pages that include these images. i.e. it will take as long as it does to download the images off the third party server. The rest of BSF will be unaffected. IF BSF is running slowly it will be down to other factors, or maybe it will be down to your connection with your ISP.

Aaah i hadn't realised they were stored on a third party server. I was just aware all of a sudden there was an increase of inline pictures.

Reminds me of when i posted a link to a picture a few years ago as the subject of a thread and immediately had someone saying it will be using up the forums bandwidth. However, i was quick to point out the image was hosted on my site and incurred no bandwidth load on the BSF.

(Grrrrrrr lol lol i hate it when support staff or anyone blames one's connection or to clear one's cache, my connection is a rock steady 75-76Mgb and my cache is cleared every time i close any of my browsers. Many people are havng problems with the BSF running slowly recently, check out the 'This Forum' section of the site)

According to match reports the meeting had some very good racing. Not got to watch it yet, i'm rushing off out right now, but there is a high quality (picture quality that is, only one camera angle and the riders are small in the distance of the far bend) 13 minute video of the meeting here and.......i thought Sweden was good but WOW! what a setting for a speedway track, hey what a setting for anything.

Sorry not picking on you uk martin but having a little think about this i think it's very bad protocol indeed to include inline images into a BSF post. A link is fine as people can choose whether to view it or not.

The thing is with it being hosted on a third party server BUT PLACED INLINE ON THE BSF PAGE, if that server is slow (or dangerous, more coming up on that aspect) then no matter how well the BSF server and users computers and broadband connections are running then the page will load slowly. It isn't helped at all that posters are not bothering to re-size the images to acceptable levels. You're imposing heavy bandwidth usage on BSF users expecting pretty much a light text page.

Of course the biggest potential problem is that images are used to carry viruses etc. Going back to a point i mentioned above if a BSF user has a choice to visit an image link on a third party server that could be tainted (not necessarily the picture either but the third party server) then ok that's their choice to make. However, it's very poor to enforce on all visitors to a BSF page to have something from a third party server automatically downloaded on to their computer.

I see the image that you include is hosted on akamaihd.net and when i put it through over half a dozen security portals it passed ok (NOT totally clean but that doesn't affect your image and can be explained). Now whilst your image and server may be fine another image included inline could be hosted on a dodgy or corrupt server (intentionally so or unknown to the owner) and host all manner of nasties.

I just think we'd all be safer if the BSF had an option available to us to view or not to view images...hang on i think it may do, i'll have a look later to see if one can block images.

UPDATE:

I've just had a quick shufty and can't see any option to block images etc, in forums there are usually one to block avatars etc but unless i'm looking too hard i can't even see that option lol.
