Berwick have informed their supporters of a National League-level meeting at Shielfield Park on June 15th, with reduced admission prices. From their website:

The event will be a visit from Dudley Heathens, one of the major clubs contesting the National League, who will be faced by an amalgamated Berwick squad of younger, locally-based riders under the banner of the Berwick 'Border Raiders'.

Berwick training officer Gary Flint has been busy setting up the event, and to help balance the books is offering a special deal of £70 for supporters to sponsor either a rider or a heat.

“If they want to be keen, and sponsor a rider and a heat, we’ll do a special deal on that for only £100” said Flint.

To sign up as a sponsor – and encourage younger local riders from either club – potential backers should call Gary Flint on 07597-057413.

Bandits’ boss John Anderson is delighted to be able to be promoting a meeting for younger riders, and will offer a June 15th turnstile price of only £8 for adults, with children of fifteen and under entering free.

“We can only put this match on because of the generosity of our sponsors” admitted Anderson. “So anyone who can help us by getting in touch with Gary Flint will be very helpful”.

“I should also place on record our sincere thanks to Berwick Rangers FC, who are giving us the use of the stadium that night for a peppercorn rent”.

Well done to Berwick speedway & Berwick rangers. Its a pity The Heathens cant get a local Coach company to sponsor the Travel, this would be a great meeting to see. Its good to see Teams being more proactive and encouraging more British youngsters. I understand Adam Roynon will be riding for The Heathens, probably as a guest for Ashley Morris.

It's a shame it doesn't fall in school holiday period or else I would have arranged short break in the area, but it's a long way for one night for us.

But yes it's a great offer by the Berwick promoters hope that a few Heathens fans are able to make the journey

Berwick win yet another watch by filling a blank Saturday with what will surely be an attractive fixture, hopefully bringing some of what they used to call the "Cabbage Patch Kids" north!

Adam Roynan said to be in Heathens' line-up -- which side of the pits will Paul Starke be on?

it's a bit sad that in a NL challenge the they have resort to R/R,surely a young junior would benefit from an outing, after all that not the point of staging this fixture.

I agree,if not one of the Berwick juniors then Im sure a rider from another club couldve been slotted in at No2 for Dudley just for the night.James McBain possibly.

Steve Worralls scores at Newcastle havent been that hot of late,he and Newcastle must be hoping that a few race wins in this meeting might help in that direction.

Good week in Berwick weather wise again this week, and its glorious right now, showers are forecast for later today and more is forecast for tomorrow.
