Catch Me If You Can
I wasn't wearing my rose tinted glasses..........it was a 50/50 call Bellego probably was unsettled by Cook (who I thought looked fairly average all afternoon apart from one heat) but Bellego was back wheel chasing, he's not that good and was over riding. So fair play to Babs, she had to lose somebody and she's only doing her job, not very well some of the time and painfully slowly. Thankfully Rohan was OK, well no worse than when he started! Over and out!! Sadly she gets too many of these wrong as witnessed over the seasons. Cook was without doubt the guilty rider and took the others out where upon Bellego had no option but hit into Tungate. I remember a meeting at Leicester when she excluded Gjedde of Berwick when he was yards away from the Lions Russian who slid into the fence. It cost Berwick a win from memory.I appreciate meetings are passed around among referees but surely one of the top senior FIM oifficials should handle these? PS Take a look at who will Referee PLRC in due course!! we wait with bated breath!! i was standing with the edinburgh supporters and they seemed to think Cook was blameless They would of course! Chewbacca
Some decent racing but dear me what a shambles of a presentation. A national final and there is one medic? Newcastle have 2 ambulances and 3 medics for league matches. Well done Edinburgh (who wouldn't have qualified for the final but for Richie Worrall's engine failure when leading). Can't comment on the big crash as, along with many others, we'd left. We took a picnic but made the mistake of buying some beer inside the stadium. £3.20 for a can of Tetley's fake beer. Outrageous. On the Saturday I had been to the drag racing at Santa Pod. £17 to get in (£14 if booked in advance over the internet) Free programme Free parking Free grandstand seats 100% total pits access Free Battle of Britian fly past Funfair on site Continuous racing, 30 seconds apart (except for a 15 minute delay when a rider came off a bike at around 120mph) Someone from the BSPA should go and have a word with those guys about how to promote motorsport in the UK
Goodiepatchie
News on David Bellago is promising. Last I heard was he took a bang to the head, possible concussion. If confirmed that's remarkable! He's a very lucky man think we all thought it was a serious injury . Wonder if any of the comments on yesterday's meeting will be taken in by the powered that be or just ignored as usual Edited July 15, 2013 by Goodiepatchie
justathought
It was a long one that's for sure. And yes me, along with my mate, left before the end. First time ever and I started going to speedway in 1971. We also had a massive delay at Leicester the night before. So a bit of a slow weekend all in all. I enjoyed the racing but obviously lost a bit of interest once Leicester bit the dust. On the plus side I have to say the guys on the Mic were very good. Probably the best I've heard at any speedway meeting.
Al Stewart
They would of course! And equally, you would think he wasn't.
TwoMinuteWarning
If the normal car parking charge is £1 for a 2-hour league meeting, then £2 for a 5-hour meeting sounds like a bargain Always look on the bright side of life ...
Catch Me If You Can
And equally, you would think he wasn't. I am what you would call a neutral who is very concerned about Speedway in general and yesterday (Heat 11 apart) did nothing to help. bri1966
In sport you need that bit of luck . Edinburgh got that luck yesterday Somerset losing Doyle because of a rain off in the W.T.C .Worrall ef while in front for Newcastle.Cookie not getting disqualified for that crash .Well done Edinburgh glad for Deek in his testimonial year

dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
Perhaps someone can post a link to a clip of the Cook incident for us all to offer an opinion on.
Arson fire
Their was a pair of spectacles found, they did announce it, try the email and tel contacts for Peterborough. they've been claimed by a Mrs B. Horley
Baldyman
Wow what a terribly run meeting that was. Wouldn't fancy that in the freezing cold, good job its in summer. In the final Ipswich gave away points by morten for no reason at all, then Barker puncture, then loosing roban whilst leading the race, only to be taken off and the culprit let back in the race, cook clearly run into bellego causing knock on effect. It's not sour grapes as that's racing, but we were clearly robbed of our second fours title in 2 attempts. Congratulations to Edinburgh though and all the other teams on display. Wishing all riders quick recoveries.
Super Blue
Well I spoke to fans from Rye , Somerset , Leicester and Workington , everyone agreed it was Cook who caused the crash and he got off Scott free ! Of course Edinburgh fans will disagree but you only see what you want to , its simple , he didn't like being passed and went into 1st bend too hot and created the domino effect . It's just a shame that a certain referee didn't see it , well she couldn't have could she ? At least one mare of a decision per meeting is her average so why should this have been any different . Bless her , she was probably having her afternoon nap at the time !
cityrebel
A long long day hope everyone's ok shame we got lumbered with a totally useless ref today who didn't seem able to let any race go without pulling it back but then she is the world champ at dragging a meeting out chris gay might argue with that!

lucifer sam
Although the meeting did drag on forever and the constant re-starts were part of that, I think Babs is getting a lot of undue stick over the Bellego/Tungate incident. Cook came fast under Bellego, but it looked clean to me. It was Bellego who lost control (possibly distracted by Cook passing him where he hadn't expected), ploughing into the back of Tungate. Therefore, the correct rider was excluded. All the best Rob
spanner47
I'm sure even the most ardent Monarchs would agrre thet they rode their luck. But in a very close meeting, it was always going to a bit luck that decided the result, Richie's engine failure meant they scraped into the final, and Bens puncture and the heat 11 crash all went in their favour. But these things usually even themselves out, and from an Ipswich point of view, lets hope we get the luck in the 2nd leg of the LC S/F. Can someone please explain to Ms Horley, if the rider messing about at the tapes gains no advantage and ends up at the back, let the race continue!!! One of the long delays was caused by riders not seeing the "miniscule" red lights. There's enouh riders getting injured without them being caused by something simple that could be fixed. Make the red lights bigger and fully enclose them so they riders can see them. And finally, when i came out of Lamothe Landerron at 01-15 a few years ago, i thouht I'd never be at a meeting for so long ever again, i was wrong. I've never known so many fans leave a meeting early, not that i blame them.
