League Cup Semi Finals?

Recommended Posts

The qualifiers have been sorted for some time but still no confirmation as to who will meet who let alone any dates.

Perhaps it will be left til October again!?

Does anybody have knowledge of whats going on?

No doubt it will be announce next week, that it'll be Ipswich v Newcastle - seeing as we meet each other this Thurs and Sunday, so we have to do it all again in the next few weeks! :P

Thanks - still nothing on BSPA or other club sites.

There is reserved date in Witches list for 13th (koc not to be!!)

It would a shame if that went blank and end up cramming later on.

I'm guessing Sheffield will want to wait for their inevitable changes later this month but why the hell don't the BSPA bring in a rule the semis have to be run by the end of June and the final by the end of August? Because we all know the final will be the last 2 weeks of October.

Apparently Edinburgh have turned down the blank date at Ipswich this coming Thursday (13th) due to being scheduled in the Sky meeting 2 days earlier!!

Deja vu then . Did these two clubs not take an age to agree on dates for their KO Cup tie last season

Last year the Monarchs waited till the death before arranging a date with the Witches , some hidden agenda perhaps ?

At Ipswich we ended up missing out on our traditional season closing meeting partly due to the weather but also the inability to get match dates confirmed !

Hope it doesn't happen again this year .

Ipswich offered them some dates, they kept saying no. One of their excuses was saying they'd told their riders to go on holiday, Ipswich asked the BSPA to intervene, but no chance there, considering who the top man is. Lets just hope the Monarchs are a bit more helpful this season, but I wont hold my breath. Speedway riders are used to lots of travelling, Somerset Tues, Ipswich Thurs cant be that difficult, unless you're Edinburgh.

To me it makes perfect sense considering they're down south anyway

I can see why we said no to this Thursday as Craig and Theo carrying knocks, Vissing out of form and Mitchell out injured plus 2 bigger meetings over the weekend. Also it is quite short notice to ride a semi final considering you have been asked to ride a date 3 or 4 days after being asked IMO.

This is if there is any truth in us saying no to this date or this date being proposed at all.

Granted it is all rumour.

I presume the request was a bit earlier than 3 or 4 days as it was being talked about at Foxhall last Thursday so notice wouldve been at least 8 days.

The next blank date in the Foxhall fixture list is September so I would doubt the date wasnt offered.

Oh well looks like the finalists (whoever they are) will be swapping Christmas cards again!!

  • 2 weeks later...

Still no news of any dates. The PL home and away fixtures for Witches/Monarchs are set for July. Should these be switched to act as the semi finals or the result count for both perhaps?
