Fromafar
Sheffield are coming off the back of three home defeats, and havent won a home meeting since April 18th.If Berwick have any thoughts of climbing up the PL,then an away at Sheffield is a must IMO.We`ve already lost points at home this season so points on the rode would make up for that. Im sure the Berwick promotion will be targeting this meeting as a potential win. Difficult to see where an away will come from if that was our best chance!! I have to agree,Berwick are under performing excuses will be made but at the end of the day results are important to a lot of fans. Hard to see a top 6 finish but would be happy to be proved wrong.
DukesGreg
Koppe has been to a few tracks this week getting as much lap time as possible, and you can see the benefit. He was well on the pace tonight, and was good when not in the lead too... exciting to watch. I admire him for the fact that he has put himself out there to practice at different venues. Fair play to the lad.
tigerowl
Berwick weren't bad to be honest. Sheffield have looked awful in recent weeks but Steady was back and in top form and they just happened to meet the Tigers when Joe Haines and Damien Koppe hit form. Eddie Kennett made a slow start but looked good towards the end of the meeting, Aspregren rode well, Smith and Wethers were unlucky and rode much better than their scores suggest, Barrett had bike problems in his last two rides and Starke was well on the pace. The main disappointment was Bellego for me. I would echo DukesGreg with his praise of Koppe. I was convinced that he wasn't going to cut it in the Premier League but I take my hat off to him and if he proves me wrong I will be more than happy.
Halifaxtiger
Credit where due to the promotion. I think most of us had thought they'd gone mad with that revised line up, but without a doubt it worked! Haines and Koppe look like they've finally found their confidence and are finally showing some true form. It's such a relief to see the team bouncing back after the recent awful form, and with the points change after the Somerset away meeting, we could be be set to have a really strong team if we can bring in the like of Roynon or Compton to replace Knight. They should listen to to your Dad a bit more. He's been saying move Haines to no 2 since December. I am not sure the other changes were a success, but that one most definitely was. screm
Very rare for us to agree but no one can argue with you tonight, i am sure we will get the usual excuses of the track was bad etc but both teams are on the same track you are underwhelmed i am totally peed off like you say early june and season is over ..... Wish I could argue against this but in truth I cant,Berwicks inability to gain points,or wins away from home is something that needs to be looked at,especially if that team is losing points at home.Looks like the score flattered Berwick somewhat giving that they had to use 2 tactical rides. A bloke that doesnt even ride for Berwick, just about says it all. I would get rid of Kennet now, clearly taking the mick. Be better bringing in a 7pt new rider or something, not like theres anything riding on the rest of this season now anyways. Lets hope history isnt repeating itself with Mr Kennett. tigerowl
It didn't seem to me like Eddie was taking the mick at all last night. He missed the gate off the outside in Heat 1 and couldn't make up the ground. Missed it again in heat 5 but battled past Richard Hall, won heat 11 easily, finished second to Simon in heat 13 which is no disgrace and won heat 15 easily. He was never going to live up to that average but appeared to be giving 100 %.

Looking at Edward!s score last night don't thing he has done much wrong.Maybe not the invincible Superstar that some people were billing him though.Pl is a tough league to dominate. For any rider and IMO Cook is the only stand out rider this season.

Bandits4eva
Kennett certainly wasn't taking the mick last night... Done out of a hard 1st bend in heat 1... Made a very hard worked pass on Hall in heat 5... Done his job on the TR... 2nd in 13 and won 15... Maybe we expected too much of him but last night he was our beSt rider... Just one of those nights where Sheff got going and we didn't! We do need improvements though... This Saturday coming for us is going to be hard I believe! DukesGreg
Kennett looked fine last night, and as the meeting progressed, Berwick were into the groove of it. I do think that Steady aside (his form is superb when fit and firing), it was Koppe and Haines who made the difference. A great night from them. It wasn't Berwick underperforming that saw Koppe do good, his approach in putting in laps all over is very professional. He was on the pace, his times were good, and just when Sheffield needed it. Many have been thinking that Koppe was good for the chop, and he probably had it in the back of his mind too. So good on him. He was also not contented with sitting behind a rider, he was taking it high and wide to advance places, a great night. There's nothing better than seeing a rider who appeared to be off it, all of sudden, be 'on it.' A mini 'coming of age.' Sheffield have been poor of late, though Simon Stead is almost irreplaceable, and Hally has been out. He was only off the pace this last week as he still is feeling it... he's not fully fit. When these two are swinging, and Haines is in buoyant form, Wells weighs in and Albin clicks, Sheffield are a much more attractive proposition. Losing Stead and Hall wasn't ideal. Though to respond to Bandits4eva, I DO think you got going quite well, just a little too late. It didn't feel comfortable late on. A couple of engine failures didn't help when your riders spluttered home. The track looked REALLY tricky on bend two, they were lifting so much as it progressed. All in all, things picking up for Sheffield. A lot of the time, the reserves really count. Koppe excited me last night. A definite Man Of The Match effort, hope he can keep it going. But the main thing is, we now know it's there.

Fair play to the lad. Heat 7 Koppe nullified the tactical ride with a win over Aspergen and that I believe sealed the fate of the meeting. From then on it was catch up and damage limitation. He looked smooth and with fast equipment under him, this was a big turning point this week and Sheffield looked a strong side. graz gp
I would not say they are a strong team, It's only one meeting. Imo we have to wait and see what develops from hear on. The jury is still out. But it was 100% better than recent meeting's. Well done Joe and Damien that's what we have been looking for.
Mooose
Koppe rode like a man on a mission and all credit to him. I can't honestly say that he looks fluent yet round Owlerton, but no doubting his total commitment last night. Having said that, this team still needs to be strengthened so I'm not getting carried away with one good result.
spin king
Massive difference in the Sheffield this time from recent weeks, and after about heat 4 you got the feeling that were not going to get beat. The big difference was that this time around we had a fully fit top 3 something we have not had for a while, and Sheffield without Simno Stead especially are not the same team, its not just the points he scores its the help and advice that brings to the team. Berwick were disappointing, I expected much more from them, and I think that Eddie (sorry Edward) Kennett is finding that the Premier League is not a walk in the park. Riders performance. Sheffield Simon Stead; Truly inspirational as a number 1 and captain. Well Done Skipper Joe Haines; Told people that you would see a different Joe Haines if they changed his riding position from 3 to 2, well a paid maximum showed that I could have been right. Well Done Little Fella Ricky Wells; Solid performance, from Ricky . Well Done Ricky. Richard Hall; Loses points on over riding and falling off. But shows true commitment, and that cannot be faulted. Well Done Richard. Facu Albin; Was put in what looked like an impossible task, but stood up well and did a job for us. Well Done Frank. Damien Koppe; Revelation, is the word to describe his performance last night. We saw occasionally last week what he can do, but this week he was exceptional. I am chuffed to bits for the lad as he has worked hard to get to that level. Well Done Damo. Jake Knight; Only one solitary point for Jake, but the lad battled hard all night and was not that far off the pace. Well Done Jake. Berwick Edward Kennett; I think that he is starting to realise that life can be pretty tough in the Premier League. He did okay, but must admit that I thought he could have better. But he did not do to bad. David Bellego; Very disappointing, saw a quite a few times around Sheffield last season and he was pretty good, but last night loked a shadow of that rider. Robin Aspregen; For me the pick of the Bandits, always in the tick of it rode well. Matt Wethers; Another one who was disappointing, I have seen him ride a lot better than that at Sheffield. Kozza Smith; For me the most disappointing of all of the Bandits, what happened to the all action Kozza that I love to watch. Paul Starke; Did a decent job for the team. Nicki Barrett; Did a decent job for the team. What is next for the Tigers, well we have to wait until after the away match at Rye House when Albin,, Koppe and Knight get their proper averages, and if the Promotion decide to make changes they can make something of a significant change. For instance for they were to take out Jake Knight they would be able to replace him with a rider of between 7 and 7.5. Interestingly both Adam Roynon and Andre Compton had skid after the meeting, and both would fit into that criteria. Finally nice to see my good friends Shadders and Bandits4eva.
