Ipswich Vs Newcastle Thursday 6th June 7.30pm

I think cyclone writing Edinburgh off is tongue in cheek. We lost at Glasgow, Edinburgh put 60 past them. Need to see how the Monarchs adapt to Tabaka moving into the top 5. He'll still score well just like Dyer is doing at Redcar but the key will be how well Fricke scores. He certainly has the talent. Whatever, if both teams are at full strength they should be classics like the 2010/11 clashes.

Somerset lost at a strong Redcar side tonight but I would still expect them to be in the play-offs. Leicester are setting the pace but I don’t see them as title winners. Redcar are a real dark-horse and another I expect in the play-offs.

Unfortunately injuries will probably play a big part but the PL is warming up nicely.

Well done to the best team in the league, once the track settled down the racing was good, heats 13/14 were out of the top drawer. Shame Rohan got in Bens way in 15, nobody had a stinker, but nobody had a good un either. Cant remember the last time I went to a meeting without a stoppage or rerun, even when Tully jumped the start in heat 8, and had a bike length lead before the other 3 had moved it wasn't called back. A decent evenings entertainment and home by 21-25, just how I like it, except for the result, but you cant win every week.

Can I just say thank you to the riders who happily signed autographs last night for my son. He was a bit nervous but it made his night.

Even managed to get George English ( dont tell George he only wanted his book passed to Andy Tully!!!)

Had a brief chat with Richie W and Andy and both more than happy stop packing up and talk. A credit to the Diamonds.

You`ve got to hand it to the Newcastle promotion, season on season they produce teams that challenge for PL titles, and they have done so again this season.

I guess you overlooking the seasons when our two heatleaders were Henry and Franc?

Well, that was certainly worth the journey down!!

We could have had all 4 points, had the track been better earlier on, as the falls happened when we either had a 5-1 or a 3-3, which changed them to a 3-3 and a 2-4. That'll be the 6 points we were behind early on in the meeting.

All Ippo fans were complimentary, which is nice. :approve:

On the Stevie W discussion. What I would say is that you don't become a poor rider overnight. We know what he's capable of. Give him time and he'll get back to what he was doing before his injury last year. And, anyway, who are you going to replace him with? As far as I can see there is no-one out there. But I wouldn't be looking anyway. Perservere with him and he WILL come good.

What a depressing performance that was from all Witches riders apart from Rohan. Sluggish out of the gate, slow bikes, pootling around the white line and taking the wrong lines mostly, getting passed over and over again etc etc.

I said Barker needed to start riding like the no1 9.69av rider we signed but to no avail, 5 races and 5 missed gates is simply not good enough. Riding for Birmingham Wednesday he scored 12 points so perhaps he is better riding in the Elite League only. The terrible lines he take at foxhall and never never changes, shows he only knows one line and thats just inside the fence sadly.

Hawkins well Hawkins is Hawkins, 4 - 5 points a meeting and thats that and terribly slow getting passed and also getting some extra points given to him.

Tungate by far the best Witches rider and the only one who could gate, a very good performance from him.

Risager, seems the bubble has burst and his purple patch is over which he has from time to time, so back to the white line safety line.

Lanham, well has a rider let the Witches down more than him this season, I doubt it. Absolutely pathetic and even worse now at no5 than at no1. I for one hope he is replaced but very much doubt he will be as he is in the cl click.

Ellis, well as usual one good race in the reserves race then nothing and Im starting to wonder if he is worth his team place after all he is a Lakeside asset. He came to Ipswich with a reputation for overtaking but we have seen nothing of that and seems to have gone backwards with no improvement at all.

Heeps, well he has rode very well this season and I suppose he was due an off meeting and this was certainly it. Never gating and very slow and at times looking awkward, we hope for better next time.

Slightly larger gate witnessing this very poor performance from the Witches, I would think the extra's are not likely to return. With the away meetings coming up at the weekend, a performance like this and they will be walloped and get no points at all.

Close to 2000 perhaps just a little under.
