Cardiff Gp Track Staff........

Recommended Posts

Other jobs are done by Swindon, I know the person who grades the track at Swindon goes down for a few days, but not sure if he drives the grader during the meeting. Not sure about centre green flags etc. Newport used to supply the red flag staff.

Will ask tonight who does what.

I remember the legendary fight between Scott Nicholls and Emil at Cardiff a while back, and the first chap to run onto the track to split them up was Pete the gate man from Newport, I miss Pete. He always used to rib me for eating burgers before a Mavericks meeting.

Whilst I'm on the subject, I miss Newport's burgers. Best burger of all the tracks I've been to/ridden at.

Spoke to a couple of people tonight and found the following information.

As Berti said Swindon provide the start gate staff, they also man the gates to the track and they man the pits entrance onto the track.

It is believed that ex Newport staff provide the red flag holders on the centre green.

The track graders for the meeting come with Ole from Denmark.

newcastle and redcars start marshals did it last year, and a few clerk of the courses from up and down the country are pits officials etc.

The Swindon people just test the start gear and are on standby in case the start tapes give trouble. It may still be the case that the start equipment is that used at Swindon, as I am sure it was taken to Cardiff for the GP one year.

What a sham, esp when Cardiff has a roof so not even affected by the weather.

Now they have the task of doing 3days work in 5hours before deciding at 6am tomorrow if the gp will go ahead.

On twitter its says the decision at 6am is about delaying the start time not about it not going ahead. Although looking at Lindbacks twitter, it seems he is not happy at all.
