Sheffield Vs Leicester Pl 30/5

Recommended Posts

This could be a real close match. Leicester are forced to use national league guest for the otherwise comitted Magnus Karlsson. They bring in James Sargent who also guested for Leicester a few weeks ago at Berwick & at home vs Ipswich.

Sheffield look like they will be without Simon Stead so will be entitled to a guest (which you just know will be Craig Cook)

With also Richard ( i'd rather be at a wedding) Hall struggling to be fit they might be forced run with R/R which means anyone can take a ride in his place.

Teams

SHEFFIELD

1. Guest TBC

2.Facundo Albin

3.Joe Haines

4.Richard Hall or R/R

5. Ricky Wells

6. Damien Koppe

7. Jake Knight

LEICESTER

1. Kauko Nieminen

2. James Sargent (guest)

3. Lasse Bjerre

4. Jan Graversen

5. Kevin Doolan

6. Alex Edberg

7. Robert Branford.

Simon doesn't think he'll be able to ride in the pairs on Friday so Thursday will be a definate no! However Hally seems to think he'll be taking Steadys place on Friday, so he'll want to ride on Thursday. Hope he's more ready than he was against Rye House!

If not don't know how we'll go on at Somerset, might as well withdraw and let a team with a decent pairing take our place.

As for the Leicester meeting think it will be close, Branford and Sergeant have both done plenty of laps round Owlerton so will be a good challenge to our bottom end (all 4 of 'em). Bjerre is usually good round here too and although Doolan doesn't particularly like it here, if he shows the same commitment he did at Poole last night he should do reasonably well.

But if we suddenly get going who knows what might happen!

Why do Leicester need to use a NL guest in for Karlsson, surely he has about a 7 point average?? Sorry don,t know the rules LOL

I think they are usng a NL guest in the hope they can put together a team that includes Roynon and Karlsson. There is no reason otherwise. I think Neb probably has it in the 'teams looking for new riders' thread.

I guess it depends on what Roynon's actual new average is as to whether they can redeclare with the league winning top 5 or not. I cannot currently for the life of me figure out the rolling averages this month. I had it last month but they ain't working this.

That is incorrect

The reason Leicester is using NL guest James Sargent is because that is the only facility they are entitled to.

Because Magnus signed for his swedish team before joining Leicester they have to take preference.

If Leicester were to re declare with Adam Roynon in place of Magnus Karlsson then there has to be a minimum 28 days period before Karlsson could be reintroduced to the side. Which on current 4 matches we can't do without Magnus for. Espically if we redeclare with Roynon who then isn't quite ready then they are under strength .

I still think Leicester can nick a point out of this because i feel at reserve we have a gem round Sheffield in Alex Edberg

That is what i meant Lionking. I think they are running a NL guest so they still have the option to use Karlsson in the team. As you say, If they replace him for the Sheffield meeting then we cant then redeclare with him in the team for 28 days. I heard that Roynon has been out practicing at BP and looking good BTW.

Roynon practiced at Brandon on Monday and looked good. Said he felt good. Will be great to see him back racing. Great talent

Don't think he has ever ridden Sheffield not in PL anyway not sure about practicing or individuals !!!!!!

Never rode there to my knowledge but he seems the leg back put it in the dirt type rider.

Lets hope there is some dirt then :-)

TBH I can't see the Lions getting much from this match. Nemo seems to be very off song, Bjerre is up and down like a funicular, Graverson is lost away from BP, and the reserves have done little to instill confidence. Doolan should do ok, but I think the Tigers by 10-12

Well, I am not too convinced that we will win by such a great margin. Lets keep it real people. Here's my rider breakdown:

Oliver Allen : Olly is no Simon Stead, but hes capable, a strong number 1 and knows Owlerton well. Expecting him to lead by example and hit the points.

Facundo Albin: This young thrill machine has had a bit of a wobbly couple of weeks. Expect the unexpected with Albin. Will ride the boards, lay the bike down and hit useful points.

Joe Haines: Yawn, one of the Sheffield "passengers" Im afriad, too inconsistent, looks off the pace, but i hope joe proves me wrong and bangs points in. Concerned.

Richard Hall: Hally is a new rider since his old mate Stead has been back, will want to blow the cobwebs off and Show Olly Allen a few fast lines around Owlerton. Near max expected.

Ricky Wells: Ahh Ricky! what a season he is having eh? He is our points machine at the moment and i expect this to carry on against Leicester.

Jake Knight: Now that jake is full time PL we can see him relax and grab the bike by the bars, Jake will want to be in the mix from the off. But will he?

Damien Koppe: Low score expected im afraid, this meeting could be his last in a Sheffield racejacket if an adequate score is not provided. Gutted as i for one was expecting better things from Damo. Please prove us all wrong.

I thought you couldn't replace an assessed averaged rider until they had secured a real time average unless injured. If thats the case i don't think you could replace Koppe . We had the same problem last season with Jari Makinen.

Correct. Sheffield promotion have already said that the earliest they could possibly make a change is mid June - think somebody else calculated it to be the 20th to be more exact (rain offs aside).

Could be an interesting meeting - if its gate and go racing then Leicester will be in the driving seat, if the track is raceable Sheffield should edge a win.
