Buxton Hitmen V Kent Kings, 26/05/2013

Picturesque setting up a mountain, have enjoyed my visits there with my grandson Ben Morley, in previous seasons,, but a really tough track to go to for first time riders often quite deep and difficult to turn on ,,having said that the Hitmen are not much stronger than the Kings on paper,, so hopeing all the lads will enjoy the experience and learn something from it,,stay safe and be fresh enough to put up a good show on monday afternoon against the Fen Tigers 3pm start...

this should be a good match as both teams as they are at present are destined for the wooden spoon

I thought the initial team building and structure for Kent Kings by 'maestro' Len Silver was for a 'championship-chasing side'?

One to make us think. Kent's Adam Kirby won heat two at Buxton!!!

PS:

He's now had a second place!!!

PPS:

Adam Kirby has recorded another heat win. He could be Kings top scorer at the finish. His win levelled the scores.

Debutant Benji Compton has had a third ahead of Jack Kingston, a second to a Buxton rider in a two rider rerun, and also headed Buxton's Tyler Govier for another third place - I understand.

Sad setback in his fourth ride for Kirby when he retired (?) - actual reason not known at the moment.

A fall and remount for no points in his fourth outing.

Yet another retirement in a fifth ride for Kirby.

Good effort from the kings took a point from the meeting losing by only 5 ,, if they are using the same system as the league .. Confidence.booster for Kirby ,shame about the retirements..I suppose comparisons will be made between Comptons score and what Mason might have scored i dont think it would have effected the result and it was Comptons first meeting..Steve and Ben did what they had to do in a top heavy side ,well done lads ... Roll on 3pm tomorrow....

Pleased all round with this result, buxton for gaining another win, and Kent for an improved all round display, Buxton is not the easiest track to ride, and i really came on here to see where the Adam Kirby slaggers are, 8 points from his first 3 rides, oh they were against joe bloggs and Mrs mopp so they dont really count  well done Adam and tough luck with your bikes kiddo, seems you have carried on from where you left off on Tuesday :t: now is that one or 2 fingers i can see....

Adam Kirby blew an engine in a big way, seized the piston and the cylinder cracked right round the base

Early days yet but I am delighted for Adam and his dad Paul who has always stood with him.

Keep it up boys, one very happy and proud sponsor.

It was a good performance by Adam Kirby and sad to see his excellent showing ended in what is such an expensive way. Maybe a collection to help him at Central Park during the interval of the Bank Holiday Monday match against Mildenhall. I recall similar happenings at Wimbledon during the Plough Lane era usually brought in some sizeable amounts.

And greyhoundp why did you destroy an excellent response in favour of Adam's showing with the final "fingers searching" comment? As a sporting figure, Adam must accept good praise and the opposite, His form at Buxton was proof enough on his part to show he has the strength of mind to disprove his detractors (and I was among the doubters at one stage) and turn in a good riding and strong scoring performance.

Yes it was a good performance from Adam yesterday, but as you say a very expensive one.

I know Adam and his family do read all the comments on here, and elsewhere, both good and bad and he will be pleased to read the posts from yesterday.

All riders ride on confidence and when it's high they feel that they can do anything, when it's low they feel that they are doing nothing right.

All I, and the riders ask, is that people are fair and that is why posts like the one from gustix above should be applauded. Over the last week or so I struggled to see why Adam had been singled out for so much critiscm but to be fair, and credit where credit is due, praise followed a good performance.

Onto today let's hope for a sunny day, good racing, and a safe day for all the riders.

Good meeting that was close throughout - both sides were fully committed and had a bit of bad luck along the way. Good to see Steve Boxall riding like we know he can and his races with Charles Wright were top draw - Steve's pass on Charles pass in Heat 15 was as good as you will see anywhere.

Gustix, you saw the finger/s comment, did you not notice the  at the end also, anyways i wont be commenting on Adams ability again, his scoring is doing it all for him, I just hope JTW has the good grace to come on here, and say it seems he was wrong.

Thank you for the explanation. I do see these symbols but never understand them and there's no key as to what they mean. Like your goodself I think Adam Kirby may have turned round his career. He could have had more points against Mildenhall but for what many feel was an extremely harsh exclusion.
