Nikko
First of all my Andy Murrey tennis gag was a private joke between me and some Kent fans which I don't need to go into on here so sorry if any one else has taken it the wrong way, Nothing to do with filming etc, i am too professional for that sort of cr&p. I like anyone else hope that this and any other club can be a success, we need all the new ones we can get, as our sport is not too healthy at the mo. I do hope that my long standing mate Magic can get fixed up soon though. Sorry no, just a Private joke.. Apologies Ken if this was a private joke I misunderstood, I have therefore removed my previous post but im sure you can understand why I replied. Neil. waco
As far as filming goes Kens T2 TV company only charges £5 for national league matches at Rye.. The company at Kent Re Run productions, are charging £7 for them ..As someone who buys a lot of these videos i know who i would prefer doing them ..T2 TV ... Nice to see others supporting my view of the ref .She appears to have little understanding of young men racing motor bikes.. I know many men refs that are not to clever either ,,But call me sexist if you like i think it was a bad day for the sport when they started appointing lady referees... iand
1st visit to Central Park, very impressed by the whole set up.As good as Wolves, Birmingham and Belle Vue if not better. A couple of questions regarding the stadium. 1. Why are the back straight and 3/4th bends closed off or are their plans to use them in the future. 2. Also when leaving the stadium it seemed that there was only 1 way out available, under the main grandstand. Is this right? Team wise, impressed by Boxall (he looked gutted at the end of Ht 1). Also impressed by Compton and Kirby. Kingston and and to a lesser extent Coles showed promise, but Woods a bit out of his depth especially at No2. Morley couldn't get out of the gate and then struggled. Being a RH fan i expected more from him as i've seen him ride well at RH.
waco
The time it takes to get out of the stadium needs sorting is there only one exit ?.i left some time after the meeting ended and there was still a long que to get out ..Fans leaving the outside seating area also had difficulty getting through the grandstand building... Shadders
Not seen much mentioned here about Jack Kingston. The lad tries his heart out there can be no doubt about it, he comes off a lot perhaps but it's not because he's struggling by any means that can be seen when watching him race. He's not afraid to try the outside line and once he gets more track time behind him I reckon he's going to flourish into a real decent rider. Speedway fans love a trier... I'd rather see a bloke trying something different than watch another poodle along the inside line when there's obviously nothing there... Good to read that Adam Kirby had a good afternoon. Shame that Connor Coles is struggling. Really needs to be at reserve it this stage of his development. I have to say that the men weren't much better this weekend. I am not sure who it was at Plymouth, but in an identical situation to that involving Kirby and Terry-Daley he too excluded the wrong rider. duncrusadin
2. Also when leaving the stadium it seemed that there was only 1 way out available, under the main grandstand. Is this right? There is an exit to the left of the grandstand (as you look at it) that leads out to the car park.
spanner47
There is an exit to the left of the grandstand (as you look at it) that leads out to the car park. I looked at that and it was padlocked, when i left the stadium i couldn't see anyone leaving from anywhere else. The place has got more good bits than bad, but please, when the lads are repairing the fence, why not water the track then? The Ref did her best to keep the meeting moving but she was flogging a dead horse most of the time. In future please do the track grading while the riders are recovering from falls, wouldn't that make sense? Or do the promotion think fans enjoy hanging around for 2 1/2 hours for 15 mins racing? I dont!!

I dont!! Agree with this. The stadium is excellent with great views all around and there clearly are quite a few new fans there who they should be aiming to keep. Two starting gates too are so sensible, yet basics are still messed up. I know the Leicester promotion get it in the neck all the time but, other than the Magnus testimonial which was a shambles, they do seem to know how to multi task to keep things moving. I also think the 6.30 start time is a brilliant idea as it should attract far more locals straight from work / school, but this lack of urgency when something happens could ruin this initiative. Not that it ruined things but why could they not have sorted out the speaker before the start of the meeting instead of during the interval? It would take seconds to do a sound check before the stadium opened. No readmission tickets either. Basic error and unacceptable after the IoW match. "We'll sort something out if there is a rain off", was the answer I got but if they had nothing at start time where would they get it from should the meeting have been abandoned? One single door to get out initially. Hopefully no fire safety officers were there as there was a very serious safety breach. I too feel that the referee was short changed by some on here and the slowness of the promotion. From where I was sat she was 100% correct with the Brandford / Morley incident so why should she be asked to explain her decision just because someone disagrees with her on the forum. In my opinion she screwed up big time in heat 14 but wasn't it a similar decision which gave Chris Holder the world title last year? Maybe that is the precedent to follow for all such incidents now. In spite of the pleadings some on here can't hack women having the vote. I don't want to hear her reasons for excluding Kirby, although I disagree with it. When is she going to do the pots if she has to defend every decision taken? Ignoring the kids thing, again like Leicester (who I must stress I don't support or have any allegiance with) there were a goodly number of late teen/ early 20 types in the crowd and these are the sorts who tracks need to encourage. With the cash taken on the day they must be able to buy a couple of Now CDs to play music to entertain these newcomers with some more up to date stuff. Unlike children who may have been dragged along they chose to be there so should be encouraged to choose to attend again. There are only so many hearings of Popcorn by Hot Butter (1973) that a man can take during two hours speedway. (OK Rye House joke but the same principle applies at most tracks) Yes I will be going back for the 6.30 starts but please try to keep those newbies returning who may not have made the same decision owing to the lack of urgency / plan B. New Cross Ranger
I took my 7y/o grandson along on Monday for his very 1st speedway meeting. I myself have probably only been a handful of times since the closing of New Cross back in the 60's when I wasn't much older than he is now. Firstly i'd like to say how impressed I was with basically everything from the stadium itself to the standard of some of the riders. Of course there are going to be one or two teething problems like the announcer being almost impossible to hear if sat outside in line with the starting gate about half a dozen rows from the front as we were, afterall it's a new set up but hopefully these problems will be looked at. He did get a little bored by some of the drawn out delays and it would've been good if I could've taken him down to the pits to see the riders working on the bikes close up the way I used to but maybe that's something for the future. On the team front thought Boxall, Compton & Morley showed that with a bit more track time they could forge the basis of a very tidy team especially when added to the enthusiasm of Kingston & Kirby. I drove down from Bromley and will be doing so again before very long although making the 6.30 start maybe a little problematic what with all the traffic but rest assured I will be returning very soon and so will my grandson, but maybe he'll have to wait until the next afternoon meet which I think is August, school comes first. JC!
Just getting round to replying, better late than never, I guess!! I was really glad that I went, a potentially very good set up down there and everyone seems very enthusiastic and friendly. The facilities are really second to none, with good viewing and catering facilities with various options available. I asked about the third and fourth bend terracing to the pits and apparently work is being done to make a walkway safe at the moment. The M2 delays and my sat nav taking me down a dead end did for my chances of getting to meet up with P1928N but I will make sure to next time that I am down. It is easy for anyone to focus on what can be improved as many have mentioned but there are a couple of things that would improve the experience for me - I was on first bend and the sound was out, so maybe a chalk board to communicate results and changes would help. The second is far from easy, but it is clear that too much of the team building allowance has been used on Steve Boxall. This means there are 4 reserves, with that the second strings out of their depth in the main body of the team, and this in turn leaves too much pressure on Morley, Boxall and Compton. It is very difficult to see what can be done, but, with lots of other teams having at least one very strong reserve, I hope that the fans persevere with what is likely to be, in the main, a losing team. Good luck for the rest of the season to all concerned, I hope that the crowds remain high through the summer.
