Guest
hi can anyone recommend any good books on speedway? been looking on ebay amazon etc but they all seem the same any help would be great colin Most speedway books these days tend to be detailed club histories, but John Chaplin of Speedway Star fame has written some excellent biographical type works, two of which I feel may be of interest to you and feature Ivan Mauger and Ove Fundin. And a real old collectors piece from the early 1930s is 'Thrilling the Million' by Tom Stenner. Edited May 26, 2013 by Guest

TonyMac
I'm biased, but Alan Carter's Light in the Darkness and Michael Lee's Back From The Brink are both honest and revealing. You can check out those and our other book titles at www.retro-speedway.com Edited May 26, 2013 by tmc

tonyd
You could start reading speedway books where I did ........... get hold of a copy and read "Triple Crown Plus" by the great Ivan Mauger and then follow that up by reading "Briggo" by the one and only Barry Briggs. After starting off with those I then found myself reading any and every speedway book I could get my hands on.
The White Knight
Also an excellent Retro Speedway book is 'Confessions Of A Speedway Promoter' by the late John Berry. www.retro-speedway.com I have read BOTH Confessions Books and they are GREAT. I cannot recommend them highly enough. If you want insight and opinions on Speedway these Books are a MUST!! :approve:

Guest
Jeff Scot has done a few speedway books. Worth a read. Jeff Scott's site can be found on the link. I also think he's attending Saturday's SGP in Cardiff. http://www.methanolpress.com/
Hackett
Jeff Scott's books are an excellent read. Most of the autobiographies are a decent read. It's just good to be able to get some insight into the sport and riders : Crump, Hamill, Ermolenko, Wiggo, Simmo, and tommy Jansson all are decent reads. Normally Cardiff is the time of new launches , any planned this year ???
classicspeedway
Why not try some speedway novels? Good stories based firmly in the days of the Gulf British League when British speedway was at its best. Their website is worth a visit even if you don't want to buy a book. https://www.speedwayfiction.co.uk
