Super Blue
Anyway , back to the meeting , on Cookies previous visit he was rivaling Rene Bachs record for the most jumped starts and getting away with it , so hopefully he can achieve the same for us ! Although the curse of the Witches no1 race jacket can strike anyone at anytime , so we will have to wait and see .
Baldyman
So basically we are saying the reason crowd levels seem to be constantly dropping is because we don't offer good value for money? For me personally a visit every week to foxhall costs me around 35 pound, I would even go if it was 40 but it's certainly not a cheap night out. The other night I went to Romford dogs, had a sit down meal in air conditioned restaurant and watch the dogs all night for less.

cowboy cookie returns?
Agree with mostly what you say Baldyman as usual except I doubt we will win easily, as the Witches riders cannot be relied upon to give 100% when riding for the Witches. Rohan seems preoccupied with his efforts for Poole more than for us and it really showed last week when he was passed 3 times. Lanham has his mind on finishing his career with the Witches, which surely is very near and riding around the white line and taking the safe easy option. Ritchie who is only here for the very short term, obviously only on old equipment and has not won a race since riding for the Witches. That leaves the 4 riders who can be relied on to give 100% effort but one of those is missing Ben but Cook should be a good replacement. Yes the attendances are dropping each week as the fans are fed up of seeing second rate riders week in week out and the same opposition so far mostly. The novelty has worn off of new teams and the reality has set in of the riders they are seeing every week and they are deciding to stay away and save their hard earned cash and who can blame them. There are not many fans left who will watch any kind of speedway no matter at what level and many who would are getting very elderly and many not with us any more. The young element are fast disappearing as can be seen very obviously every week and they are the future of Ipswich speedway and they need attracting back by re-entering the Elite League, so they can once again see the top riders like, Andersen, Holder, Ward etc etc. Going back to the Elite league would not temp me back to Foxhall every week the only thing that would do that is a total shake up of this once great sport! Jackal
People keep making excuses for why the crowds are down, but they keep going down, there is less people there every week nearly, I don't know why, but I really don't think it's the weather. More likely to be cost or value for money. Apart from season ticket holders, it would be interesting to know how many people actually pay to get in. I would have said even the bank holiday meeting just gone was also lower than in previous seasons. Well I for one do not make any excuses for why the gates have dropped alarmingly!! Im sure if there was a referendum for either Elite League or Premier League among genuine Witches fans, the Elite League would win hands down!! I had about 20 friends I used to go with, now that has dropped to 8 as the other 12 will not come back until in the Elite League!! They do not like watching inferior riders week in week out and want to see the stars like Holder and Co. So thats 12 I can tell you about who have been lost to foxhall until Elite returns if ever??? As for the season ticket, well I think its very poor value for money and will never buy one again until it is value. So Im one who pays at the gate and that will remain that way for the foreseeable future!! As for the comment about Mr King knowing what he talks about? Well the jury is out on that one as he talks through his mentor CL all the time and I for one disregard what he says!!
mickthemuppet
Why could not Witches gone for R/R for Ben Barker instead of picking Craig Cook. I know what John Berry would have chosen. To me the Premier League does not have the attraction of the Elite League. I missed more matches last season than all of the matches when they were in the Elite League combined. . I too was in a group of 12 to 14 people who used to go every week to Elite league matches This has now shrunk to 3 or 4. I also used to go to some away matches in the Elite but have never been to one Premier away match. . I am sure that when riders like Hans Anderson, Darcy Ward , Scott Nicholls etc. were coming to Foxhall this was a big attraction to the discerning Witches supporters. These riders certainly helped put bums on seats.
Gavan
only fair weather fans would walk away. I support my club in any league i love speedway. The fact is in both leagues you get good and bad meetings. Lat week against Somerset was a cracking meeting. just because we might be elite league doesnt mean the racing is any better. 15 years ago yes but not today. just because the times might be slower doesnt mean the racing is worse
Baldyman
Let's be honest, the times ain't that much slower either. I think in the main the racing is just as good if not better. There is certainly more effort shown by most of the riders.
spanner47
Well spanner47 (Mr King) you seem to have a crystal ball and can see into the future and know all about whats going to happen, very very clever of you!!! Or are you just one of these know-it-all and actually know nothing forum users? Luckily i'm not one of those embarrassing sad little freaks that hide behind an alias. I've told you where i stand before, but you've never paid me a visit. For the record, I've been called Spanner for 40 years. If you think Sky will splash the cash next season ask yourself this, what was on Sky Sports Monday night this week? They've got Monday night footy, now they've moved some Rugby League, 20/20 to come, why bother with a dreadfully run sport that has stupid gimmicks like the double points nonsense? I certainly dont know it all, but they've spent a fortune of footy and F1, something has got to give.
Cliffeboy
Easy win for the Witches tomorrow by at least 20, Proctor`s been showing good form lately but had a bad spill at the weekend, Cory will get 10 or 5, ditto Lemo, and can`t see Anderson or Bates getting past any Ippo rider tbh. That will be enough to see you into the semi`s.
