Ipswich Witches V Plymouth Devils Lc Thursday 23rd May 2013

Lots of work done in the last half hour - top effort as track looks ok. Will be a bit slippy for a couple but so long as no more rain could turn into a good one.

That was really too easy , and there was me thinking Glasgow were going to be the league whipping boys this year , I've changed my mind after tonight .

Really good to see Mortens continued form and even better to see him riding a much wider line this evening .

A very good team wide performance and great choice of guest who in my opinion is actually as good , if not better than Doyle round Foxhall .

A speedy meeting on a cold damp night and well done to all involved for getting it on considering the rain and hail at 6-30 ish .

And you didn't even wave to me as I was stuck in traffic on my way home from work - bad egg!

Wasn't expecting you to be going away from the stadium at that time! Still noticed it was you though, nice wheels

Easy win for the Witches against a lacklustre Plymouth side. Bit like a Witches performance!

Track was excellent, ok a few riders struggled early on but was all about throttle control and attacking the track. Reminded me of the old Foxhall, take it easy going into the corner and when the fence lurks, wind on the throttle as there was plenty of grip to hold the rider up. Well demostrated by Cook, Risager and Heeps, Tungate stayed on the kerb all night which also worked well. 3 maximums says it all. A track that Barker would have loved.

Cook - Easy nights work for the Witches guest, won heat 1 which is only the 2nd time a Witches number 1 has done all year (Doyle is the other) Great ride in 13 to beat Wells, lined him up and blasted round the outside.

Hawkins - Gating well but stayed mid track rather than outside on inside,

Tungate - Much better week, team rode well with Risager in 4 heats, great understanding.

Risager - only blot is he was beaten by Tungate in heat 3 so didn't get full max. Didn't ride around the kerb once.

Lanham - Steady job

Ellis - does well off the inside gates, normal heat 2, but maybe he should be in heat 8?

Heeps - Tried to get past Kurtz in heat 8 but couldn't quite pull off a couple of attempts, to get a max.

Wells - looked uninterested early on but then got setup and making some good starts.Best away rider on show

Bates - Didn't complete a race,

Schramm - Looked like he never ridden Foxhall before, had good battle with Gathercole...

Gathercole - Steady night but had to battle past Schramm when on TR ride. I take it the Plymouth are not paying for 3-3 bonus points! ;)

Lemon - Overtook Hawkins for a 2nd place but well off pace.

Anderson - Gated well but struggled

Kurtz - Always has one good gate and win at Foxhall which was heat 8. Strange that he didn't have more than his 4 rides! :o

IMO thats how a meeting should be run, wasn't rushed through too much, just efficient

Never in doubt that the Witches would win comfortably but even given that the Devils were very disappointing.

Great pass from Cook on Wells. Rohan and Morten pretty much untroubled and Cam will be disappointed to miss out on a full house.

You wait for so long fir a Witches rider to score a max ( I cant remember the last one) and then 3 in 1 night!

Feared the worst as I got close to the track, but need not have worried. Many promoters would have called it off, but luckily the club invested heavily in an excellent drainage system, and with CL in charge of operations, and Bob doing his bit, we ended up with a decent evenings entertainment. Ok, Plymouth were there for the taking, but there was some decent passing and hopefully a further confidence boost for the whole team. I see Ben only scored a couple for Brum tonight, I bet he's cursing that new rule, I'm sure even he'd have managed double figures tonight.

Quite a surprise to see this meeting take place with all this crap weather about but a big pat on the back to Bob and his team (inc cl driving the tractor) for preparing a very grippy track. Plymouth were absolutely awful and even when they got the gate were passed with ease by the Witches riders willing to go for the wider grip. This as usual did not include Lanham who was pootling around the white line and passing nobody taking the safe lines. The pass of Wells by Cook was sensational in heat 13 and just goes to show that with Woffinden, we have 2 Brits who are capable of taking on the world class riders but thats it. I thought Cameron had his best meeting for the Witches and was unlucky not to be selected for a ride in heat 15, as he had his helmet at the ready but Simmons decided not to use the lad.

Another terrible gate as the fans decide to stay away in their droves and this must be a worry to cl and he should realise something is wrong. In my opinion there is a regular fan base out there of 2,000 but they will only come back if cl takes us back into the Elite League. All I hear from most forum users are that it will be too expensive and the elite league is in trouble if sky pulls the plug but its a fact of life that the 1,200 who stay away now will only come back if we re-enter the Elite League. Also Witches have good sponsors and we will never be in a better position than we are now to move back up!!!

do you honestly believe that if Ipo simply went back up to the EL the gate would increase by 1200 on average????

if it was that good, why did you drop down???
