Gb V Australia - Ipswich 30th May

Recommended Posts

Surprised nothing about Test Match on any of the threads. Rebels Alex, Josh and Jason in Aussie team for first match this Thursday 30th May. It's a five match series, the last two matches are at Workington on 17th August and Newcastle on 18th August. Rebels have two away matches on both those dates Berwick and Glasgow on their Scottish tour, If the same trio are selected for these test matches, do Somerset have three guests?

Have the BSPA joined us in the real World at last? Not charging extra for a stronger than normal product is not usually the way they work, or is it down to each individual promotion to set the prices? When these matches were first talked about, i was under the impression that it would be just Premier League riders, so it's nice to see a stronger than expected field. Shame Cookie,Cam and Rohan have got better things to do, but riding for your Country seems to be more of a chore than an honour thses days.

It'll be interesting to see if this captures the imagination of the local public, but historically we dont get a decent crowd the same day as the Suffolk Show, and with the weather horrible yesterday, not much better today, those going to the show will go Thursday, and probably wont do both.

Surely if they like tractors then we can get Bob to wave to them and be available for autographs!!

Very true Shadders. I wonder why Nick Morris not picked for Aussie, perhaps team had to be declared before he resumed from injury. If you wanted the best Aussie team then Jason, Nick and Josh would be your pick but confused about Alex in the Aussie team, I thought he was born in Northampton, Northamptonshire?

In guessing he was born while his dad Stephen was with the Panthers. I don't think Alex has any direct British ancestry. Jason Crump is a similar case, born in Bristol while Crump Snr was with the Wasps. Didn't Alex come into British speedway on a 5 point average? That'd be a clue to his heritage.

I'm sure he has patriality from two or three generations back......Lynn tried to bring him in on a three in 2010 before Newport signed him but the English relative was too far back and he started on five instead.

Alex Davies should be on the GB team he was born in Northampton.

Given that I believe he was refused a British passport when King's Lynn first brought him over to the UK, hence reason that he was given a 5.00 average and not a 3.00 one and ended up joining Newport instead of King's Lynn, the fact he is an Australian National and that he has already represented Australia on a number of occasions and ridden in their National Championship at various levels, there is no chance of him representing GB.

Apparently Barker wants to ride even though he was advised to take a week off !

Probably wants a go at North , although they don't meet till heat 10 and he's on a gate outside of North !

As far as Davies is concerned , why would anyone want him to be British anyway ?
