fullbore
Yet he's still scoring OK points. Proof he has a stupid amount of talent, can turn up, go through the motions and still score 5 or 6 points and outscore Lindback, Lindgren and Vaculik with worrying regularity. 5 - 6 points is not top 8 standard. Currently a 6 year old on a pushbike could outscore Lindback. Niamh

SCB
5 - 6 points is not top 8 standard. Currently a 6 year old on a pushbike could outscore Lindback. Niamh Top 8 is an arbitrary figure though. Are you telling me that if everyone in the World agreed that the top 15 riders in the World were the 15 riders in last years GP, you'd kick out the riders 9-15 for 7 new riders? Gollob is currently 9th, he's going to end 9th (he'll pass Holder, Ward will pass him). So you need to name 7 riders, currently not in the GP series, who are better than him. 7 riders who can score 5-7 points a GP. 7 riders who can make a GP final (as Gollob did the GP before last). Owning to the fact of the Wildcards only Lebdevs and Harris have managed 7 or more there can't be much outside the GP system capable of matching Gollob, even a Gollob who can't be bothered! fullbore
Well if you get pleaseure from watching the 2013 Gollob, fine. I just think it's very sad to see him as a mere shadow of his former greatness. Niasmh
Kreso
Surely that rules out Gollob and Lindgren too then? Honestly, I really don't know what to do with Gollob, but I am pretty sure that Lindgren didn't deserve a WC.
salty
Surely the 3 picks (one will go to Holder) will depend a lot on who gets through at Poole. I would imagine the authorities would be hoping for a Swede or two to get through otherwise that may well affect the make up of the wild cards. Personally, I would like to see another Russian in the series.
PHILIPRISING
AT this moment you would bet on Ward making the top eight rather than Gollob once Holder drops out. Having watched Gollob all weekend, at the track and in hotel, hard to believe that he has much enthusiasm for it any more.
A ORLOV
Darcy is likely to end up in top eight. Since his return he has out scored Gollob at each GP and Holder is not going to add any more points. Holder 82 Gollob 73 Ward 68 If he does not he is well worthy of a wild card. LagutaRacingFan
I'm not one for Ward getting a wild-card, He's failed to qualify automatically for the last 2 years and he's been relying on a wild-card rather than entering the GP qualifying series. Only GP qualifier participants should get wild-card picks so also tough luck to Holder in my opinion.

I just think it's very sad to see him as a mere shadow of his former greatness. Niasmh Honestly, it's not something I enjoy but it shouldn't be down to if I enjoy it or not. It's is that rider one of the top 15 in the World. Who cares if I like them, if they've had 20 wildcards, if theres already 10 Poles, if the rider does this or that it comes down to, "is he one of the top 15 riders in the World" and even riding as he is at the moment, I'd say he's on that cusp - especially if the Lagutas are not an options. I hope he has a great end to the season though so we don't have to worry about this and he makes it impossible to not offer him the chance (or even makes the top 8). Either that or he announces his retirement but I imagine Gollob would give notice of any retirement and try milking it.

salty
Holder, MJJ, Laguta and Gollob/Ward most likely... If, for example, Andersen and Bjerre qualify from Poole, then you can't see MJJ getting a pick to have 4 Danes. Sweden will get at least one. spook
I would be amazed if the usual IMG formula is about to change.... quota is king based on the standings at the moment and the history of IMG picks, the top 11 are safe.......... and like SCB is saying, they probably should be anyway Noddy & Darcy are lucky that the GP Challenge is a bit sparce on the Aussie front.... I'm sure IMG wouldnt want 3 in but if Batch qualifies I cant see them blanking either of the 2 golden boys I should imagine IMG and the Stadium promoters need Tomasz Gollob for the 3 Polish rounds providing he doesnt retire anyway.....who knows maybe the relevent people will look away while his bikes return to their best speeds and he will qualify on merit??? IMG are having a bit of a Swedish issue currently and if Freddie doesnt make the top 8 he will be close enough without giving them an issue in picking him.............the problem they have is that one Swedish rider probably isnt enough and unless AJ saves his hide with a GP win I can see the final WC going to THJ unless he or Nermark qualify as of right There is competition for that final WC though as despite 99% of us thinking a Harris wild card cant be viable I am certain he will be at least shortlisted (unless King qualifies) as Cardiff is the golden goose and they want bums on seats........... Vaculik no doubt has a longer career ahead but he isnt outscoring what Bomber usually scores and Chris means more to the organisers.......... tough on Vaculik but we have seen this before with the likes of Zagar One or both of the Laguta's should probably be in the frame but IMG havent shown much interest in the past and issues seem to follow them around I should imagine that ideally IMG would want THJ/King/Nermark, A Pole, & MJJ to qualify from the GP Challenge ........ Crumpy's retirement really helped them out this season but with the chase on for a USA GP and the hero worship of Tomasz it would be a double edged sword if it happened again this time ............ and then all of this could end up being a chaotic farce anyway if the trouble allegedly brewing with SEC comes to fruition
PHILIPRISING
CANNOT think of any reason why a British rider will get a wild card pick.
JC!
CANNOT think of any reason why a British rider will get a wild card pick. A lot were saying that last year
Ghostwalker
Holder, MJJ, Laguta and Gollob/Ward most likely... I doubt that they will give a wild card to Gollob, if they want another Polish rider besides Jarek, either of Dudek or Janowski are probably more likely to get one. Ward won't need a wild card. He'll be top 8 when the season is finished unless he gets injured or something like that.

SCB
With hindsight probably the most inspired pick ever Niamh So not Nicki when he won his first title in 2003? Nicki that year, last year and now Tai are proof that the wildcard system is better than 100% qualifiers. Probably others too.
