TesarRacing
Whether the sports clubs/teams are loss-making or not is irrelevant - as long as they are still paying their agreed rent/fees to the freeholder!! I realise that Skidder but I was responding to the comment "There must be some one with the money to buy Brandon and return the Bees to a champion winning side" which seemed to be suggesting someone buys the stadium and runs the speedway and maybe other events. Woz01
Off stock car promoters Startrax website:: ::::::: Coventry Stadium Press Release Further to our previous announcement regarding the sale of the freehold for the Coventry Stadium site and continued press speculation we would like to make the following statement. The freehold remains available for sale and whilst we have had several parties show interest in securing the freehold for the site only one has continued to show interest given the existing leases for speedway, greyhounds and stock cars. The confidential nature of negotiations needs to be maintained as such we will not confirm or release the details of the potential buyer however to stop further speculation from fans of the various sports which take place in the stadium these will all continue to operate at the Brandon site until 2023 and hopefully well beyond that date. When we have further news regarding the land deal to release we will do so until then we hope the above statement will reassure the public of our intentions to see the anchor tenants at the stadium continue to operate for many years to come. Â Â The Coventry Telegraph are still saying Sisu are buying the stadium but all the sports will remain there. How is this possible? Why would Sisu want to buy without having any dialogue with Rugby Council? They surely know about the planning restrictions? They need to build a stadium within 5 years but the sports will remain for ten? Â Â Â Â
philfromcov
the latest article now says they are closing in on the second site... its all B**Ks. they are trying to put pressure on ACL who own the ricoh, by saying look we are buying Brandon, they quickly get caught out and changed to plan B which is the old Peugeot site. no one believes a word they say.
Humphrey Appleby
all the power would have to go from Warwick to Coventry and that could never happen hence why coventry got put into the west midlands! Â Interesting conspiracy theory, but I think the motivation was more because the purpose of creating metropolitan counties in the late-60s/early-70s was to integrate planning and services across urban conurbations. Coventry being put in the West Midlands does seem a bit odd given that it's distinctly separated from rest of the West Midlands conurbation, and indeed that most of its hinterland is actually in another county, but that may be because the planned extent of metropolitan counties was dramatically scaled back at the time. It was especially the case where Tory-voting areas thought they'd end up being governed by inner-city Labour areas,

orion
Â Â Damn, that doesn't sound good at all. Not sure about that, have a feeling by the way Horton and Findlay were talking that if there is a stadium it might be multi purpose as they seem quite relaxed and happy that football was coming .
Villain
Judging by the Midland's News you lot better start to appreciate watching 22 overpaid knuckle draggers pretty soon. Â That would be a tragedy. It's about time that the morons who follow football so avidly stop turning these undereducated brain donors into millionaires. Football in this country is at its lowest ebb ever and yet people still fork out a huge slice of their hard earned cash to fund it. To say I'm pissed off with football is a huge understatement. Give me speedway anytime. Keep CCFC out of Brandon.
Steve Shovlar
Just watched the article. How can Coventry FC coming to Brandon be a good thing for the dogs, or speedway? You think they will build a stadium with a speedway and dog track around the outside of a football pitch? Time to put all this business as usual bluster aside and start to form an action group pretty darn fast me thinks.

I reckon (and hope) that this is correct. No way anyone will be seriously looking at a new stadium when the Ricoh is sitting there unused. Just posturing.
