Jacques
I drove past Prologis Park Ryton yesterday, some peopole on forums would have you believe the majority of the land has been built upon, however there is acres of open land...... A mile or so from the training ground as well..... I haven't been back for a few months, but it had very little on it when we left. It was supposed to be used for retail development. But it's laid empty for years since they closed the factory. I would imagine any new stadium would need to be near the motorway if they want a. Multi use facility. Also, Coventry council owns part of the Ricoh?? So granting planning permission for somewhere else seems weird. Can't see Rugby council too keen on a football stadium at Brandon, but you never know It's right on the A45 which has direct links to the A46, M40 and M6 etc. I was informed by a Bees supporter at the Poole match last week that Sandhu wanted to build houses on Brandon & was refused permission by the Local Rugby Council . He however was going to relocate the Speedway at Ryton on the old car factory site as part of any sale . Is this the same site ? If it is it belongs to the Coventry council as the Ricoh as you write , it aint goin to happen . Yes, it's the same site and the old Ryton plant. I believe it's under Rugby Council, but not sure ? Sandhu, I believe was refused planning when he first bought Brandon, but as far as I am aware it was to revamp the stadium? He has admitted since, in 2010, that it was his intention to build houses on the site. I have no idea if he had applied for planning for houses or not since 2004, but I suspect that his attempt to sell the stadium and land is because he was hitting a brick wall with the council? I lived in a neighbouring village for 12 years , I know how influential the council is!!!!..Most of them live in or around Brandon and the surrounding villages..... philfromcov
It's Rugby yes it right on the boundary but rugby it is. Dont forget that the "roundabout of death" otherwise known as toll bar island gets ripped up next march for an underpass, plus the airport land itself has recently been approved for a development by Warwick council, which is all in the same area
FranktonBee
has recently been approved for a development by Warwick council, which is all in the same area That's Warwickshire County Council. It all comes under rugby at district level. Edit - I stand corrected as i have just checked. I was born and lived in a village just down the road in Rugby BDC and always thought Baginton was too! Well I never! Edited July 18, 2013 by FranktonBee

SCB
It always amazed me how complex the counties and districts were in the Coventry area. And Coventry being in the West Midlands to the East of the East Midlands is my favourite!
FranktonBee
Rugby BDC is a good one. All the way round to Burton Hastings in the north of the county. They really didn't plan things at all did they? I moved from Frankton to Southam when i bought my first house, which put me in Stratford District Council - 14 miles away. Warwick is about eight. And the easiest route to Stratford? Through Warwick! Plain daft.
Lioness
I reckon councils do it deliberately - its not just Rugby. Where I stay now they swallowed us up into a bigger village, people found out it was now a 'town' when a sign went up declaring 'town centre' and the 12 houses where I am now have an address almost a mile from the other 100 or so in the street with 4 road name changes in between. on the bright side no sat nav lists us so the hitman wont be able to find me

And Coventry being in the West Midlands to the East of the East Midlands is my favourite! technically coventry is in warwickshire, even if they cont dont want the city, hence why it was "cut out" and loops round the north. all the power would have to go from Warwick to Coventry and that could never happen hence why coventry got put into the west midlands!

Woz01
I have heard Brandon is not a site Sisu are looking at. The two sites seem to be the old Peugoet factory and a site near Bedworth.

mdmc82
Just read it. Shocking. So Sandhu has lost his love for speedway. Very sad times for Coventry Bees after all these years and esp after all the effort put in to building for future of speedway with Storm & training school. Disgusting that speedway will disappear after all these years cos of another sports mistakes

Woz01
Sisu are due to meet the Ricoh today or tomorrow regarding playing at the Ricoh this season. Its suggested that Sisu have released this as a tactic so the Ricoh maybe be backed into a corner and offer a low rent deal. Still has to pass planning yet which couold be the biggest obstacle! I doubt they would get one for a stadium but the club also need a site for an acadamy. Not sure Sisu would want to pay £1million for land to house an academy though.
