Cardiff Pre-show Entertainment

Recommended Posts

Has anyone heard what the entertainment is this year?

I'm guessing it's the usual stay in the Prince of Wales until 4.40 but don't want to miss out if it's the one year they've actually got something decent! I haven't even seen anything about the fan zone this year.

Every time Cardiff comes around this discussion starts. Who cares who sings a couple of songs before the meeting. Your going there for the speedway.

Sorry, I thought this was a discussion forum. My mistake.

I clearly said IN CASE I MISS ANYTHING DECENT. Because if it is the usual rubbish we won't bother racing into the stadium to watch them, but if it's something we like then we will go in earlier. It's not like i'm talking about doing something instead of the speedway, just seeing what's happening throughout the day.

Thanks for reminding me why I don't bother with this site anymore though. Looking forward to seeing some of the old BSF faces at Cardiff, from when the forum used to be decent. Before people like whoever this toss-pot I've quoted is started turning up

Oh and it's "you're".

Every time Cardiff comes around this discussion starts and every time countless people come on this thread to say that they don't care about the pre entertainment. If you don't care why bother even looking at this thread.

It is a discussion forum so you're (not your) right on one point. My views were not directed at you personally, it was a general comment, and one I'm allowed on a forum. I suggest you try to avoid abuse in your (not you're) posts as it not neccessary.

The pre meeting entertainment will be the usual array of X/Factor rejects and failures along with an 80's pop star on the comeback trail , those who want to see it will be there , those who don't wont .the Real entertainment starts when the anthems stop and the tapes go up , lets hope for a meeting which is a huge improvement on last Saturdays bore fest in Prague but with a similar end result .

THERE has been a change in emphasis in recent years. When John Postlethwaite first took the British GP to the Millennium he was conscious of fans sitting in the stadium for an hour or more with nothing going on. He wanted to see the fans entertained before the actual meeting started, hence a number of acts that were actually quite renown.

Now, of course, there is the fanzone and people are coming into the stadium later than before. This year it will be bigger and, hopefully, better than ever and as a consequence less importance and expense is placed on the entertainment inside the Millennium.

This year I believe plans are afoot for a spectacular introduction for the riders but until rehearsals can take place whether or not they reach fruition remains to be seen.

As far as the fanzone is concerned, BSI tell me it will run from 11am to 4pm in St. Mary's Street and include:

- Rider autograph sessions

- Titan is back!

- The Magoos

- Bigger and better Monster Energy rig

- Vintage speedway bikes

- Mr Gater machine

- Territorital Army stand

- Real Radio patrol

- Grid Girls photographs

- Interviews on the big stage

Plus lots more

The fanzone the 1st year was really good and refreshing and broke the day up but last year was exactly the same as year 1 and looks like its planned exactly the same.. One of the biggest problems also is space .. You cannot get around to look at things as people are pushing about on a very narrow street.. Why can't it be in the castle grounds/park.. Loads of space no pushing and shoving and whilst the entertainment is in maybe sit and chill in the sun in the grass !!

I fear though this will be same old same old so an hour in pub will have to be enforced
