For once it even looks like it's going to be a lovely sunny night at the Dale! :o Think this could be a close match if the Plymouth team click,as with the exception of Ricky 'Bingo' Kling they have all ridden the Armadale track. For the Monarchs,i'm sure the riders will all appreciate a dry track for a change as unfortunately the going has been slippy most meetings so far.Hopefully for the the good of the club this is the start of some summerlike weather after last seasons catastrophic monsoon season. It'll be interesting also to see if Mitchell Davey produces more than the enigmatic Marcel Helfer.. To be perfectly honest Mitchell, though a really nice bloke wouldnt have been most supporters choice, but we'll back him to the hilt while he's wearing the blue & gold.Good luck Mitchell :t: Hopefully a good nights racing in prospect with all riders going home injury free, and of course a Monarchs victory :drink:

Thought that plymouth could be the only side to nick a point at armadale this season but now dont think they will get to within 20.

Newcastle , assuming two track is back , is the only team equiped to give the Monarchs a run for their money at the dump this season .

Pijper and Cook were awesome tonight. Proctor just couldn't get in position out of turn 1. He tried everything when behind to be fair. Never got any clear track in any of his heats bar heat 1 when he made a mess of turns 3 and 4. Kurtz was fast and on pace. Lemon was in and out. Schramm did his job.

For monarchs top two were awesome. Claus got shoved out in his first ride, was good there after. Tabaka was great his pass on lemon and Kurtz was great. Max had a poorer night, but is learning. Derek did well after his heat 1 wipe out,

Mitchell Davey. Great. Won a big race against Lemon. Poor heat 2 but really value for money there after.

This will surely be Cook's last season in the PL, can't see what good it does him to be scoring maximums or dropping just a point every Friday night at home. Needs to be riding abroad next year to further his education.

What a display of speedway riding from Cookie this evening. He looked so very sharp, fast and controlled he was a joy to watch tonight.

Few in the PL could have lived with him tonight. Even when he was headed by Mark Lemon he calmly went about stalking his prey and swooping passed in truly majestic style. Mark looked to be sporting in his praise towards Cookie after the race.

Pijper was equally outstanding with his starts and first turns proving different class.

Wee Joe Tabaka continues to impress from the reserve berth with only a puncture defeating him this evening. His thundering pass of Mark Lemon and Todd Kurtz was stunning. Joe's team riding skills were also in evidence tonight... truly beautiful to watch.

Derek scored well after picking himself up from the deck in heat 1 to score a decent amount of points.

Claus after a poor opening ride went unbeaten by an opponent. His efforts are almost going unnoticed. But to say that his scores have rarely been below 8 at home is tremendous given this is his first season at Armadale.

Max had a tough night tonight but didn't look off the pace.

Mitchell Davey should be proud of his efforts tonight. He looked like a very different rider to the one that appeared for the Tiggers a couple of seasons ago. Well done on a night where you must have been quite nervous.

Of the visitors.

Ty Proctor looked very lively with little reward. Although I wonder how his evening would have turned out should he have not fallen in heat 1.

Gathercole was lively early doors but faded.

Lemon was ok but he has scored much better around the Dale on previous visits.

Todd Kurtz put on a good show.

It was very pleasing to see a bright and warm night up at the Dale and this looked like it had encouraged families to attend in large numbers in response to the promotions efforts.

Are you unaware that Craig also rides a double upper for Belle Vue also, so he is already continuing his education at an allegedly higher level.

As Barker, Doyle, Auty, Proctor, Stead, etc. and now Kennett, to name other top PL riders, who are also doubling up in the EL, should you expect them to depart the PL also ?

Perhaps you need to attend more PL matches this season to appreciate that the gap in terms of quality between EL and PL has considerably narrowed.

Maybe the reason the likes of Barker and Doyle continue in the PL is that they recognise that they are offered more fixtures and earning opportunities in a 13 team league.

Regarding riding abroad, correct me if I am wrong but do Barker, Doyle, and Proctor not already combine overseas league commitments with their UK engagements at both PL & EL level.

Please explain why Craig Cook could not do likewise

Any chance you could be just a tad more condescending please :)

I'd suggest a very positive reason.

His development is on a quicker and steeper curve than those you compare him with.

He is doing fantastically well at present and needs to use every meeting as a stepping stone. Any meeting spent against riders he can easily beat is a wasted opportunity to learn from those better and more experienced.

I can understand why you'd want to hold on to him.

Exactly.

Craig Cook is the best prospect we have, his improvement in the short time he has been riding has been dramatic and he could IMO be knocking on the GP door at some point and may even get his chance in the SWC this year. Next season he needs to be riding in Sweden, Poland, Denmark and wherever else he can against better riders on different tracks so he can improve even more.

The likes of Barker, Stead, Kennett, Proctor and Doyle have all peaked IMO but Cook has not. I believe his time would be better spent riding in other leagues next season where he is going to be tested much more.

I can understand why you would say this but of course speedway is also about earning a living which he is doing very well at the moment. I doubt Craig would agree it is a stroll in the PL, he still has to work very hard to reach the standard he is showing.

I'd say he could add Sweden next year without disrupting his UK double up role and then everyone would be happy, except teams in the PL who might like to see the back of him. Woffinden isn't doing them all this year.

It will be up to him. Meanwhile it is a joy to watch him home and away.

As things stand, no PL tracks have Tuesday & Wednesday as home race nights and only two have regular Sunday fixtures.

Therefore it is possible for Craig to widen his horizons to Europe, in addition to EL & PL racing, as the likes of Doyle, Barker, Stead , etc., already do.

Consider SGP riders Andreas Jonsson & Antonio Lindback who also ride in two league tiers in Sweden, as well as Poland and the Grand Prixs.

To conclude, you still offer for no valid reason why Cook could not continue to ride in the PL and also widen his schedule to include European league racing.
