YAMYAMBANDIT
Interesting practice. Very trick slack but apparently theres some dirt going down for tonight. Mikkel Bech looks very fast! Damn well hope not. last thing we need for good racing is a load of shale on the track. Thats been the problem at Berwick, nothing on the inside knee deep on the outside.. Last two or three meetings they have started to get there with less shale and more water, keep up the improved track prep.
emilali
Bech, Bjerre and particularly Bellego are hoping for some dirt to go down. Berwick is even more boring than normal when its slick.
Jonny the spud
Can someone explain the point in making the track completely different between practice and racing ? Why bother with practice in the first place if you're gonna bloody change it !!
emilali
Can someone explain the point in making the track completely different between practice and racing ? Why bother with practice in the first place if you're gonna bloody change it !! Seems to be the standard thing with these big meetings. Hopefully the track will be grippy without having an over amount of shale on.
jrs
Can someone explain the point in making the track completely different between practice and racing ? Why bother with practice in the first place if you're gonna bloody change it !! That certainly seems ridiculous to me, however you often hear the GP guys saying that the track has been prepped differently for the GP compared to practice. Are the FIM having any say in the preparation ? Good luck to all the riders tonight, there is a lot of quality talent at the meeting, and it would certainly be a boost for Berwick if Bellego does something special tonight, and good luck to young Adam, it would be good to see him collect a few scalps, its a big test for him but also great experience and another part of the learning curve and hopefully he and Kyle and Joe can pick up some points. In reality though I think Pawlicki and Dudek are likely to be front runners. Edited August 10, 2013 by jrs

racers and royals
Car park is full at 5pm, 2 hours before the start time. I've heard that David Bellago was not allowed to practice today There can only have been 2 reasons for him not to practice 1 he arrived after scruitineering had finished 2 his equipment failed scruitineering. dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
Just looked in on the scores - a big pat on the back to Kyle for his great score and putting in a real challenge. I hope Adam enjoyed the experience and has put a valuable lesson in the memory bank. His time will come of that I have no doubt.

bigeddiechek
Phwoarrrggh! Now that was speedway! The practice session was a fantastic appetiser with a lot of the guys looking very impressive. The Poles and Milic in particular. The real thing was spectacular and breath-taking, some incredibly competitive speedway. I don't know really where to start, there was just so much action. Certainly Kyle Howarth's performance was one of the highlights. He has massively improved since I last saw him. A great meeting for him. Also of note is the lines that these guys were riding. If nothing else, it proved beyond any doubt that there are several lines around Shielfield. The riders just need to be be capable of firstly picking them out and, secondly, riding them. The way that these guys were throwing the bikes at each other and around the track was incredible: and all within control. All with handshakes and respect (other than Lebedev's outburst at Bellego after their tussle). Possibly the best speedway meeting I have been to. Brilliantly run again by everyone at Berwick Speedway and hope that we get something else next season.
emilali
Great meeting tonight. Feel slightly honoured to have watched Dudek and Pawlicki in the flesh because these guys along with the likes of Darcy Emil Tai Janowski really are the future of speedway. Lebadev was extremely entertaining but most were, enjoyable meeting. Special mention for Howarth as he was really on it tonight. Nice to chat to Phil Morris after the meeting, hopefully GB are going in the right direction with him involved, seems a very knowledgeable and level headed bloke.
topsoil
Agree with what has been said above, a tremendous meeting. Some of the moves on the first and second bends had to be seen to be believed. Full commitment, no quarter asked or given. Very impressed with Gomolski, Pawlicki, Dudek, Milik and Lebedevs as well as Kyle Howarth who did himself proud in vaunted company. Track was perfect, the dirt was even throughout the whole track and very smooth. Great to see how much speed the riders were getting putting the back wheel on the edge of the dirt line. Cant fault Berwick at all on the running of the meeting and would love to see Berwick awarded another FIM meeting in the future.
