racers and royals
In today`s Speedway Star an article states that Scott Nicholls has asked to be left out of team GB- time to blood the youngsters ?
mdmc82
Shame as enjoy watching Scotty race in the world cup. At the moment I think the only youngster maybe up for the challenge is Cook.
pandorum
shame as I really like the bloke but can't blame him. That leaves 2 spots to fill with less than a lot of riders to fill them. Cook deserves a chance but who would fill the #4 slot. The usual suspects like Kennett, Bridger, Barker have not covered themselves in glory so maybe time to give a new young lad a chance as we have not got a hope in hell of getting to the final even with Scotty. We should have been holding home and away under 21 meetings against teams like Poland, Sweden, Russia, Denmark years ago to try to unearth some talent but the BSPA don't seem to give a toss so we are pretty well doomed to be among the also rans and probably will ;land on Mars before we ever see Team GB even put up a good show in the WTC. It helps that it`s only 4 man teams(unless they have changed it this year) so Woffinden.Harris,King and cook or R Worrall would be my choice. 2ndbendbeerhut
Depends what Harris does in the SGP, but i'd go for the younger guys approach to add to obvious pick in Woffinden. But here's whos available: Looking at the EL this year, there are only King, Bridger and Mear that are only riding in that league. Next up are the doubling up/down riders . Barker, Kennett, Auty, Cook, Allen, Robson, Howe, Stead, R Worrall, Lawson, Howarth and Birks. Finally there are the under 21 riders like Garrity, Ellis, Branford, Newman and Morris. Could always leave out Woffinden and Harris for the round at Kings Lynn and put them back in for the likely run off as they has experience of foreign tracks. Would give Cook and Worrall places, but any from Auty, Barker, King, Kennett and Bridger could get the nod
Dave_minall
According to Harris (a while ago) if he wasn't handed the wild card spot in the GPs, he's not doing the WC. This would give us 2 spots to fill. Personally I'd go for: Woffy Kennet King Cook Edited May 9, 2013 by Dave_Minall

King has had opportunities time to give newcomers a chance. As you say Worrall is worth a punt. It's pointless giving the old faces a go as they have been tried before so give new talent a chance. Might as well go with Cook and Worrall and see if they are hungry enough to grab their opportunity. Edited May 9, 2013 by pandorum

Worrall is a talent no doubt a decent gater, but i don't think he is in front of King,Auty,Barker not yet.I see him at the Abbey the other week and there maybe is an issue of how good is he on big tracks?.Cook to me is a certainty maybe there is a chance to totally rebuild around Woffinden and Cook. Then don't bother with all the others who have had chances, give the young uns a go why not its not like we are ever going to win it. manchesterpaul
I disagree with withdrawing as it hurts the teams chances right now, although with only one team getting through the race-off and that might be a tall order for us it might well be a chance to blood younger riders? I must add though he made some fantastic points and i strongly agree with a lot of what he said in this week's Speedway Star, it's well worth picking up a copy. I totally agree but what is to be gained using them? They have been tried and failed and are no further on than they were years ago. Worrall and Cook might well grasp their opportunity or they might fail miserably. But we will never know if we don't give them a chance. Dave_minall
Just out of interest, what did Scotty say? What were his reasons for backing out? I will find out myself at about 5:30 when I get in from work as my copy will be waiting for me, I'm just eager to find out.

Basically he pi$$ed off with the BSPA over the European championships and the Cardiff GP wildcard controversy
Gemini
According to Harris (a while ago) if he wasn't handed the wild card spot in the GPs, he's not doing the WC. He's probably got over sulking by now. Perhaps giving him a spot at the British G.P. was a little sweetener. I'm pretty sure this was only done to try to increase the attendance as ticket sales are low, but I know 8 friends at Coventry who are not going after attending all the others so it's not worked in their case.
Mark
This situation is stupid. The BPSA need to start supporting British riders and givie them some help instead of hindrance. If speedway in the UK wasn't going backwards quick enough we are now faced with going to the SWC without one of our top 4. That will hardly do crowd numbers a good turn at Kings Lynn and likely lead Team GB to get a thrashing at Kings Lynn and then Prague in the play off. Thats assuming we beat Latvia Is that was the BPSA want ? Hopefully some sence will prevail and the BPSA will sttart helping the riders and themselves. Panthers89
I'd go with: Tai, Harris, Cook and Kennett.

Yes you are right,i would not put Auty in that bracket as he has not had chances like King and Barker.Maybe it's all to play for at the British final 'pandorum'? Cook,Worrall,Auty, i would give a go over the same old same old faces.
Dave_minall
Basically he pi$$ed off with the BSPA over the European championships and the Cardiff GP wildcard controversy Fair point. Eddie Kennett suffered the same fate as well I believe - I saw Rosco talking about it on Twitter, he was saying how it's unfair that Hans could take part but his team mate could not. What a mess our governing body are making of our beloved sport. Those ivory towers don't look so nice nowadays.
Chewbacca
Cook is the best of the younger riders just now. Worrall is 12 months away from international stuff.
Brummie Kev
I dont see how you can leave Danny King out of the World Cup team, he has been in great form this year and has only had one bad meeting. Will probably go to to number 1 in this Brummies side soon. Harris is not riding great at the minute, he is trying but doesnt always have the speed and is having bike trouble a fair bit. Craig Cook deserves a chance as hes been excellent when Ive seen him and Kennett looks totally transformed with his move to Swindon. I would go for: Woffy King Kennett Cook
