Leicester Vs Ipswich Pl 12/5/13 6pm

Great point in the end and particularly well done to Cameron and Morten. Morten been in great form lately well done lad. 2 for Lanham?? He's had a couple of stinkers since his spill in the Star of Anglia is he still suffering any affects from that? Disappointing from Rohan too. He scores more for Poole in the EL!

Slightly unfair on Rohan, first iffy meeting for us really, AND he had a bad spill during the week riding for POO, so give the lad the benefit of the doubt tonight hey

A good point in the end and perhaps those that thought there would be no motivation after a poor start may have to think again.

Super Morten once again - unbeaten after a first ride third where he also lead it seems.

I think we should take the positives from this one and leave the sniping at individuals out - everyone scored something after all and its a team game.

I came away feeling like we'd lost after that considering how well we'd started! I still think we're short of a decent reserve, although all credit to James Sarjeant who gave it his all, and it shows when Ipswich's reserves got I think double our tally on our own track. With Nemo only getting 6 on top of that it cost us all three points. Ipswich picked themselves up well though considering they looked rattled after the first four or five heats. Risager certainly looked good too. If he's a confidence rider he must be in the clouds at the minute, by far and away the best away rider tonight. I see the Ben Barker magnet in the first/second bend fence was working well too!

Fair point about the spill at Poole. Maybe I'm expecting too much from Rohan but personally bar possibly Heeps and Ellis, Tungate has the most potential and I'm waiting for him to really kick on. He's shown he's a talent and what he's capable of already so I'll always be disappointed with a 4 point return from him. Sorry.

Aww come on it's a forum to discuss these things! Riders scores always have been and always will be discussed on here after meetings. Being disappointed in certain riders performances is hardly "sniping" either.

No I don't think you are unfair to expect Rohan to really kick on this season, he should and must, as you said he has been scoring well in the very poor POO team, so PL should be a doddle for him, I was merely balancing the fact that he had a nasty spill is all :P

Interesting to hear from Leicester fans, seems there was a fair bit of overtaking tonight.

there was! In fact there was more overtaking on the 1/2 bend than in the combined heats of the last 2 1/2 years (errors and genuine). Maybe it needs to be that mucky at the beginning every week, though preferably with the 1/2 hour of tractor driving before the start time. First time it's actually looked like overtaking was possible around 1/2.

Not sure why Heeps didn't take Lanhams last ride. Or why Nielsen didn't take Sergeants last ride. Heeps looked very good tonight on a track he's struggled badly with previously. A fantastic win for Ellis after a first bend fall in his first ride and only looking average in his second ride.

When you have riders so young you always look for gradual improvement in them. So far this season, Heeps has shown definite improvement from last season which is encouraging.

Fair enough - I just stated my opinion.

I'm not expecting anyone to take any notice!

How many more races has sargent got left to do It was funny when there was only two lions riders racing and Sargent still fell. We need to get the reserves sorted good to see some passing one chap asked DH that it was silly waiting for them to sort the the track out and the changes and he turned and walked away

After the first 5 or 6 heats the Leicester fans were giving it large in Barkers direction with the "who are you" rubbish. Well they certainly found out at the end. He was in a different class. Morten was never troubled after being passed in his first ride. Heeps and Ellis were both very good and played their part, and some, even after the 5-0 in heat 2 which was directly caused by the "berm" on 1 going into 2. Ritchie was on the pace, as was Rohan, but didn't get perhaps what he deserved. Leigh, I'm sorry to say was slow. It may be stating the obvious, but with a better start to the meeting could have easily taken 4 points. Away wins must surely be on the agenda, this is a good team that is only going to get better during the season.......over and out!

Have to say I was worried for Sarjeant for the rest of the meeting after Heat 2. He looked Ok after that, although not looking like adding a point. Think we were a tad lucky with the win in the end. Heat 2 and the 5-0 played a big part. Wasn't sure about the Heeps exclusion. However, we were a distance in front and ultimately threw away a point.

After heat 2 I for the first time in a long while wondered why I had bothered. Ipswich coming out looking for issues, 100 laps of grading, foul mouthed abusive rants shouted so all can hear from turn 2 (won't even think of taking my son again) but then Bjerre tried something that others seemed not to and all was well again (apart from language).

During heat 15 DH walked by me with a face like thunder. Changes will be made. Getting smashed away and then throwing points away at home is not what was expected.

A different class? I don't agree with that, yes he had the bit between his teeth in the last race and to be fair he was bound to get some stick for not getting off the track first time round as he was looking to get the race stopped and was quite rightly excluded as he was the master of his own downfall on both occasions. I reckon had Bjerre not come a cropper with the fence he would easily have taken Risager in Heat 15 too. Ipswich well deserved their point though and Lanham apart (who I don't think has ever gone well at BP) they look very solid.

Still think the track isn't right despite some good passes, it showed for me in Heat 14 when Doolan tried everything but couldn't get a line to pass the guy in front.

I also heard the abusive language and I said to someone at the time it was unecessary but I've no doubt had anybody complained it would have been brushed off anyway. The pantomime stuff with Barker is always fun and he showed his capability when he gets out in front in the end to throw it back at us and that's as it should be, even if it was irritating!
