penchev
Unbelievable! no matter what berwick do, still the boring patter creeps in, can we afford him? how much money is he on? he's the best no 1 in the premier league?, they are gonna do a newport, Who bloody cares he is a bandit! Lets concentrate on what he does on the track for the bandits!
Robinh88
I think riding in both leagues makes a lot of sense. Its bloody competitive in Poland and even more so in Sweden, regular meetings as well as incomings can only be good for the Brits. Could never understand why Barker was not allowed to double down in the PL back in 2009 for an 8.04 average. British riders needs should take priority over foreigners in the UK. Its because they change the rules every season .Fisher wasnt allowed to double down a couple of seasons ago because he had an average over 6 for Coventry.
luluthetiger
It was after the season Joe Screen had to do a few meetings at Wolves to get his average low enough to join Glasgow, the next winter the adjustment factor between the leagues was amended to allow easier interchange of riders between the two leagues. On the old system, Eddie couldn't have moved across (it is hardly 'dropping down' anymore, is it?) nor could Simon Stead. I suspect the remarks from people going on about pay-scales are fueled in part by envy, that Berwick have achieved something they wish their club had done. There was much the same sort of talk when Sheffield, another strictly-budgeted club, recruited Simon Stead during the close season. Berwick run to an acknowledged budget, but thankfully (after a winter of worries) now seem to be bolstered by financial input and sponsorships which allow outside sources to assist in some of the club's heavier expenses. The very fact of having a main sponsorship from a huge multinational group such as New Holland has probably impressed and attracted some of their new associate sponsors listed in their programme. As for the cost of recruiting Eddie Kennet, like others before him it may be he has agreed to become a Bandit because he has heard good things about the club these last few seasons, and feels comfortable with the management and promotion. Lucky he doesn't read some of the stuff on here!
Boobs
A good job all round by Berwick. No reaction to their too-many local critics when they lost a couple of matches, but clearly wheels were spinning behind the scenes. No rushed-out statements about 'changes will be made' but now we have an announcement when everything has been signed, sealed and delivered. The people who mock Berwick's media relations might want to ponder on how well this has been handled, without leaks or rumours to dilute the news when broken. Damn good post, Freddy! Glennylion
Thing is circumstances, attitudes and desires change. It may be at the time that Kennett said he couldn't do it but now has decided he could. Didn't Karlsson say he couldn't do it and then has accepted it? This of course isn't saying that there are ways and means to get round the £55.

Skodaman
This meeting would be an ideal example of how we can cut out some of the Rider Replacements in speedway. Both teams could have brought in a NL rider and moved the other team members up so that both teams would be using 7 riders.

If I remember at one time if 2 teams had r/r they canceled out each other and they had to promote their number 8. I may have this totaly wrong I wait to be told

freddyfivetoes
Will be watching the updates closely to see how Kennett and Starke change the balance of Berwick's scoring. The visiting team manager (he of the deleted posts) will doubtless be hoping his men blow Eddie away.

wandersome
The visiting team manager (he of the deleted posts) will doubtless be hoping his men blow Eddie away. I think you and a few others are trying to make this into something it isn't. At the end of the day it was a surprise that someone like Eddie Kennett has signed for you when we have the current pay scales in place. I'm surprised, fans of other teams are surprised, i think most of Berwicks fans are surprised in much the same way as Glyn was surprised. i'd be amazed if you weren't surprised as well. I like Glyn (and others like the Swindon promoter) having an opinion and letting us on BSF know it, personally it would be refreshing if more managers and promoters were equally open. The problem is when people then try and turn the little things into big things and that's when people with genuine insight into the sport all stop passing it on to us fans on BSF.
