Berwick Make Changes

Recommended Posts

Well done to the promotion on the signings i hope we see Alex and Ricky back in the black and gold at some point and thankyou to them for the entertainment they have given us, the only thing that really puzzles me about this is how the hell did the promotion manage to get the press release out before Taffy managed to scupper it..

I posted some of this on the parallel thread that's running about Saturday's match, but here it is again:

I suspect the remarks from people going on about pay-scales are fueled in part by envy, that Berwick have achieved something they wish their club had done.

Berwick run to an acknowledged budget, but thankfully (after a winter of worries) are now bolstered by financial input and sponsorships which allow outside sources to assist in some of the club's heavier expenses.

The very fact of having a main sponsorship from a huge multinational group such as New Holland has probably attracted some of their new associate sponsors listed in their programme.

As for the cost of recruiting Eddie Kennet, like others before him it may be he has agreed to become a Bandit because he has heard good things about the club these last few seasons, they are making it easy for him to travel up and down, stop over when required and he feels comfortable with the management and promotion.

Lucky he doesn't read some of the stuff on here!

Well done the Berwick PR machine, everything kept quiet until the full package was announced. As it should be.

Another fantastic well-informed post.

The Berwick threads are getting a lot better with some good input from people who obviously know about speedway.

I don't know much and posts like the above help me understand and enjoy the sport a lot more.

It's so much better than reading idiots posting tripe.

I was wondering why the poor fellow had been gagged and chained to the Town Hall. :o

Bandits have made some great mid-season signings in recent years.

Seb Alden and Magic Rempala come to mind, and I feel pretty confident Eddie Kennet will make it three in a row.

Is that Seb who?.

As it turned out Kennett wasnt on Radio Newcastle this evening, they had Christian Henry in the studio talking about the season so far with Newcastle, but they did have Berwick manager Ian Rae on the phone.

He was asked about Ricky Ashworth,he said Ashworth had been to hospital last week for a scan,he was going back to hospital to get the results.Rae had phoned him but so far had not been able to talk to him.He did say however that as Ashworth had a head injury he would not come back untill fully fit.

On Kennett,Rae said they first contacted Kennett 3 weeks ago and there had been on off talks ever since, they spoke last sunday and a deal was agreed last tuesday night.

I see on the club website that Kennet is going to leave 2 bikes up here and fly up as it will be as cheap as an 850 mile round trip in the van. This sounds like a good idea as he aint goimg to be knackered after a long drive.

I can remember Andy Campbell used to do that in as he lived in guildford, he left his bikes up at the lough.

Where too though? I see Newcastle is slightly nearer than Edinburgh. I would have thought that a pre-booked East Coast Express would be cheaper and possibly quicker over all.

IN-FORM Swindon star Edward Kennett is looking to make up for recent British Final disappointments when he competes in the national championship at Wolverhampton on Monday.Kennett, who is enjoying a fine first season at Blunsdon, is a former runner-up in the showpiece event but has crashed out of the Final in the last two years. He said: “It's going to be a tough meeting because obviously everyone wants to win the British Final, but I'll be going there with a strong head like I normally do and I'll just see how I get on.“I'm on pretty good form so I'd like to think I stand a good chance, but it's a long meeting and anything can happen. We've just got to focus to try to get in that Final. Once you get there anything can happen and that's when it really matters.” good luck Eddie!

Possibly, if you live near King's Cross. Eddie lives in Dorset nowadays, Southampton Airport is just along the road.
