Meeting abandoned after 10 heats, result stands ??? I thought it was 12 heats for result to stand ?Has it changed ??

It has... Promoters self interest wins the day

Just another stupid cost cutting exercise, which at the same time robs the paying customer.

There's no way that a result was certain after two thirds of the meeting. How can Rye House accept that, whe they could at least get one PL point, which could prove vital in the final table.

Pathetic. Stuff like this makes me ashamed to be a speedway fan. The BSPA makes a laughing stock of the sport and takes the pee out of honest people who pay good money to watch.

Agree 100% with you... Maybe we could've got something, maybe not, but we'll never know now... It's at times like this I'm thankful we have a promoter who takes heed of the weather forecasts

IIRC league results in either Poland or Sweden have stood after being abandoned after 10 heats, pre-2013, and still do.

Have to agree who wants. to pay to watch 10 Heats on a dodgy track just to avoid a posponement .They wonder why people stay at home and don't make the effort in adverse weather and to me it's pretty obvious.Fans cannot be sure the meeting will take place .Gone are the days when the boiler suit went on and we had riders who liked wet tracks.

What's that got to do with the price of rhubarb? I hope the BSPA don't try to use that as some sort of example.

The rule to declare an abandonment after 12 heats was originally brought in on the basis that the declaration could only be made if the result was beyond doubt. The BSPA then craftily ignored that aspect of the rule, and there have been examples of league matches being declared where teams even still had a chance to win, not least gain a league bonus point - and more remarkably, even one leg of a KO Cup meeting!

To decide that this highway robbery can now take place after 10 heats just shows the penny-pinching self-interest of the BSPA. They complain about "internet mischief makers", and then quite happily bring the sport into disrepute themselves - simultaneously shafting fans and sponsors. Bunch of jokers.

if this year was last year, then Edinburgh could surely race two 10 heat matches as a double header to fullfill fixtures, obtain results and ensure scunny don't win the title by default, thus denying worky of at least a fair shot at the title. :)

Surely at heat ten, the home heat leaders have had more outings than the away heat leaders?? Well number 1s anyway.... Ridic!!

Pointing out that another European league already declares after 10 heats so it would appear that others have already beaten the BSPA in making "a laughing stock of the sport".

Maybe the Poles/Swedes enjoy cheap rhubarb emanating from Suffolk :P

Don't get the heat 10 abandonment, especially when home heat leaders had more rides; and why no Dilger? he rode for Germany over the weekend - surely makes the Bears stronger?

Heat 10 abandonment was down to torrential rain, we can't control Mother Nature.

The Dilger issue is down to Mitch Davey being a 28 day replacement.

Hope this helps

Annoying to see this was stopped short, regardless of the amount of heats raced. Think we would have taken a point from this one in the end.

Lambert would have scored more than Sarj, no disrespect to the kid coz he has a decent future ahead of him but we really should have made an interim signing to replace Simon.

Don't think the poster meant the abandonment - he was probably referring to the pathetic decision by the BSPA to introduce a rule that enables the result to be declared at such an early unbalanced point in the meeting.

Sorry, I must have missed the irony of your comment - I assumed you meant that because Poland do it, it's OK. I hope you don't think like that.

Impressed with Garrity and Nelson last night, both looked very quick and really attacked the track.

GReat to see the Kus of old returning. Have to admit thought he had rode his last meeting for us but turn round has been superb. Dyer again looked excellent. Not sure i agree with the heat 10 declaration either, although i never thought we were in danger of losing the meeting. Seemed a bit strange to call it when they did. Rain had pretty much stopped and whilst the track was far from perfect there did not appear to be any serious issues. Then again, i was not on the track rider safety has to be priority.

Would also like to add my thanks to Mitchell Davey. Was a bit underwhelmed with his signing, but he impressed me once he got going. Picked up some decent points and always looked on the pace with decent kit. Hope he gets picked up by someone.
