Rye House Handicap Racing 4/5/13

Recommended Posts

Its a pity that Steve B ran short of fuel towards the end of the meeting and he couldn't find the filler cap, so was unable to take his place in the semi final.

The 3 riders that were the the class of the field were Steve, Jason and Nelson. Morley, Halsey and Manzares were not far off the pace. Really only one or two wobblers in the line up.

Overall some good races.

"Its a pity that Steve B ran short of fuel towards the end of the meeting and he couldn't find the filler cap, so was unable to take his place in the semi final." I presume this is some kind of joke?

On Steve Evans FB page: "Gino was released from hospital earlier, nothing broken"

Went through the usual Live Updates problem of saying ambulance called, then getting private message to say that his mum was watching updates and going mental ... Thankfully, I think they were able to establish some sort of comms with the USA group.

I think this is an excellent format that if used with inteligent grading would produce outstanding racing at future meetings..Indeed this meeting produced just that, dispite the difference in class of the riders ..Without the long delay caused by the excellent Gino Manzares unfortunate fall( we wish him well) I think people would be full of praise for the meeting which was running very smoothly till the incident..Garrity was in a class of his own and is probably the most exciting rider in Britain at the moment., pure box office,, not far behind were Nelsen who is not quite as solid as Garrity at the moment, but is all action .Notable performances from the 2 Kent Kings Steve Boxall having his first meeting after a long time out, looked like he had never been away ..Has only one bike at the moment and desperatly needs a strong sponser to help him.. Ben Morley also produced a fighting performance,,using cut backs to pass several riders from his 10 yard handicap culminating in winning the semi final and gaining second behind Garrity after Nelsen had fallen in the final ,, others noted as doing well were Danny Halsey,,Jack Kingston who,s performance was his best to date round Rye... Sam Woods who got better as the meeting went on ..and Connor Coles is slowly getting used to his equipment showing a little of last years form ..

All joking aside, I was most impressed by Steve B to come back and look as fast as he did, I am not sure of the rules but I presume he cannot ride for the rockets at reserve as he has previously had a PL average above 4 ?

Jason is just an out and out racer and goes for it in any situation, interesting to compare with Nelson who looks like a sensible racer when in direct comparison, but we know from previous meetings etc, that he goes for anything he sees and is normally the wildest on the track. Ben still seems to lack out and out speed, whether it is machinery or if he just does not carry enough speed around the bends, I dont know. Was trying to cut back too often on Saturday when a blast around the outside may have been a better option in some cases.

But overall a good meeting racing and overtaking wise.

We hope to use this format again in the future. Thank's to Len for thinking outside the box with us!

After half a dozen heats of the GP I knew I'd made a mistake not going to the Rye meeting.

LOL - I can only hope you're joking, but nothing would surprise me where he's concerned.

It's National League. Wad'ya expect? You're probably too young to remember, but you were there once. Never forget where you came from.

I remember it well in fact - but let's face it, Steve Boxall is (or at least should be) far better than National League standard. Losing a fuel filler cap though? Come on. I wouldn't expect little Jimmy at the age of 12 having his first go on the bike to do that, let anone someone of his experience.
