Kent Kings V American Internationals 6/5/13

Recommended Posts

just a few days to go before the newest track in the uk opens. this coming monday sees the kent kings take on the 'american internationals'. i'm not a big fan of challenge matches or select sides and would rather have seen a proper team take on the kings in the opener. the weather forecast looks good and i think there will be a decent crowd.

Hope it's a good crowd for the first meeting, and an enjoyable meeting for all. Will look at the updates of the Kent meetings with interest.

I would have loved to go to this but as a keen motorcyclist I will be on the May Day Run to Hastings with 48,500 "motorcycle motivated visitors" (source Bike 1066 - 2012 report). It seems a strange day to pick when it clashes with such a large and long running event, perhaps motocyclist are only a small proportion of the target audiance.

Anyway, I wish everyone all the best, and I look forward to coming to the next meeting.

the opening meeting at central park is just over 24 hours away and yet there is still only 2 replies to my topic. is there no interest in this meeting, is anyone planning to go tomorrow.

B4E and I will definitely be there. Is Gino Manzares fit to race after his crash at Rye last night?

i wil be there and looking forward to it. With regards to is anyone interested in going i think there will be but im not 100% sure. What i think they have missed out on there website is that they haven't put id there is anything going on before the meeting that i can see. So do people get there early and be bored or turn up with 15-20mins and take a risk. Im taking my 4yr old newphew to his first speedway meeting. Cant wait

Rocco Scopellite was injured at Buxton today and taken by ambulance to hospital. That's the only two competetive Americans potentially out of this meeting after Gino Manzares was injured at Rye House last night. I don't wanna put a dampner on Kent Kings big day, but isn't the meeting itself gonna be a bit of damp squib?

Kent V non-American select.

The "Dream Team" tour of the UK is turning into a nightmare!

I hope the two young lads aren't too badly injured.

I would agree it is a bit of a let down opener.Even at full strength were the US up to much? They only got 4 points in the U21 SWC which must be a record low? That being said maybe they will get a decent repacement in for the two missing riders and everyone will see a cracking night at what should be a super new facility.I hope there are few negatives and very many positives both from the opening night and the first season of many

Not the greatest spectacle potentially for a much publicised first meeting, but I'm sure the Kent promotion weren't to know that the US team would be so weak when they were booked. There are probably better riders left back at home who couldn't afford the time and money to travel over, which is a shame.

I've not seen the incidents in question, but it seems from updates to be the two injured lads being up to speed, but not used to the tricky tracks at Buxton and Rye. The more inexperienced American riders were out of contention and stayed out of trouble.

I'll still be there to support this new venture.

Pity the much wanted Robert Lambert couldn't be drafted in,but it seems he was injured in a clash with Smolinski and Kroner last night and missed a meeting in Denmark today for what seems to be his new club Holsted if i have read that correctly

the thing is shads, len should have pulled the plug on it when he saw the USA line up. first impressions will count a lot for any newbies there tomorrow. if you want them to return next week, you need to stage a competitive meeting. i just hope some decent replacements can be found this late in the day, even if they are not american!

I'm sure there will be adequate replacements. There are plenty of Southern based NL lads looking for a ride this early in the season with them starting later than the EL/PL riders. There are no other NL meetings taking place tomorrow and as it's a Bank Holiday work commitments shouldn't be too much of a problem.
