I'm not 100% sure why that should be the case , but the outside gates do seem to be better . You get a lot of riders building up speed and going wide out to the fence , on the 1st and 2nd bends , and that drive can take them to the lead coming out of the 2nd bend . But likewise it's possible cut down hard on the apex of the bends and move to the inside and make a place or two that way . ertainly it's not uncommon to have four riders almost level on entering the back straight . But if you have not got your gating boots on when coming from gate 1 , you get the nose cut off you on entering turn 1 .

From where I was standing it looked like the outside gates were slightly ahead of the inside gates, i.e the starting gate not in line, more diagonal across the track. At least that's what it looked like to me..... when you didn't stand in the way...... :D:P

I've always thought that about the gate.:cheers:

Optical illusion , gate looks perfectly straight when you walk past it entering the stadium .

He was right off the pace yesterday and only scored a point , which came in his first race , when he overtook the equally awful visiting number 4 . Two bad lasts followed before he was replaced by Joe Jacobs in heat 14 , which turned out to be the change which saved the meeting for us . We know Henning is better than that , so whether it's mechanical or still struggling with the injury he sustained at Berwick last year - i really don't know .

Going back to the subject of the track , when i was leaving the stadium yesterday i got talking to Sean Courtney and he seemed genuinely pleased at how much i was buzzing from the racing . He went on to tell me that Stuart Robson was raving about how good the track was now and also how complimentary Robbo was about how sporting Screen and Grieves were in the amount of racing room he was given during that wonderful heat 13 . A nice touch from a rider who entertained us royally yesterday .

Stuart Robson always comes across as a top man, he speaks well anytime he is interviewed on SKY and seems a real genuine guy. His heat 13 yesterday was - as they say - proper speedway, Nige

On the subject of Bager, pretty sure I heard them announce yesterday that this was his testimonial year and it would be staged at Ashfield at some point this season. Wether he will still be in the Stripes by then is open to debate, but he wouldn't be the first rider to stage his meeting at the track he has been axed from. What is it testimonials these days anyroad, do riders just apply for one whenever they fancy it, what's the criteria  Remember the days when testimonials were actually earnt by a rider, through a bit loyalty. I know it's different now and riders get passed about like a scud jotter, but some recipients in recent years have left a lot to be desired. How many clubs has Henning ridden for the past few seasons, must be around four or five.

If it is injury related with Henning then we should give him more time.

If not then we need to see some progress.

Hennings season ended through an injury, he hasn't had any time to get race fit, which is different to just being fit, also his engines aren't working, which are set up identical to last season's engines. He's working hard on getting something to work engine wise. After every race he is changing something trying hard to get the performance out of the engine. Give him a little time, he'll come good I'm sure.

He seemed to put in an improved performance at Newcastle on Monday , hope he remedies what the problem is . Cause he's a great character and when he's on form he really gets the crowd going .

Is he able to get track time after the meeting or through the week at all to work on it?

I noticed both Joes and Harley out after the meeting
