Berwick V Workington 04/05

Shouldnt fans get behind there riders when they are struggling instead of throwing critisism there way on a weekly basis (which is only going to make there confidence worse than it already is). I actually seen someone on facebook arguing with Edberg on how to ride the track?????? Its not Edbergs fault they lost the meeting, Berwick lost the meeting because Ashworths replcement wasnt good enough, 3 points from your number 1 rider is no where near good enough and any other team whos number 1 rider scored 3 points would lose at home & so what if they lost it was a decent night and a massive improvment on the last couple of weeks racing.

GET BEHIND YOUR TEAM FFS!!!!!

I remember Peter saying to me that 2005 was his worst season for crowds.

People got used to us thrashing visitors and stopped going.

The fact is that Berwick fans are always looking for something to complain about.

It's a cultural thing throughout that area, I'm sad to say.

so so true!! Plenty turnip brained, tunnel visioned thickoes ;)

I think the Promotion need to tell Alex to refrain from making comments on the Berwick Facebook site as he is very negative regarding the track and says the trouble is that it is round a Football pitch and is too square to produce good racing and is not safe. The track has produced good racing around the same Pitch for many years.

Agree, the track shape hasent and isnt going to change, and the shape the track is now is the same when Edberg was scoring well,I didnt hear to many complaints from him then.

If Mr Edberg is un-happy,or is incapable of making the neccessary changes to man or machine that will see him among the points then he should stay at home at weekends and leave it to a rider who can.

So its ok to slag off your fellow fans then.

Yours Sincerely

Currently results wise no they're not better but 2005 was a very exceptional season. The Saturday night experience at Berwick has improved tenfold. Also the country was in a far better financial position back then, people had more disposable income then.

Can't argue with you on the financial aspect. I'm sure that there are people who would love a night at the speedway, but have to give it a miss due to money issues.

Over and above what goes on out on track, the promotion have done everything that's been asked to improve the product

So Alex rode to his average, has said he wants to improve, and openly said that the track at Berwick is difficult with the current machinery.

Good on him for being open and talking directly to the critics.

It was interesting to note that the positive comments outweighed the negative by a ratio of 5:1.

It's comforting to know that not all Berwick fans are numpties!

stick with your team guys. it unfortunate that Berwick are having a blip in form. but every club goes through it now and again. support the management and more importantly, THE TEAM. if speedway was predictable, no one would go..

hope to see some bandits SUPPORTERS over on Monday. think Berwick will step up a gear. hey. FREE race cards as well.

A bit harsh.

A very rough and ready calculation would suggest that Alex Edberg has an average for the year to date of 4.92 ish (I think) with a home average of 5.5 ish.

Admittedly his better scores were earlier in the season. So whilst the track shape and size may not have changed since the start of this or last season perhaps the track surface has... I know Alex didn't enjoy the new surface when Edinburgh visited recently. He was not alone in that.

So just perhaps Alex is just trying to indicate that there are other reasons for his lack of recent big scores. All I know is that I've visited Berwick 3 times this season and on all occasions it has been dry and on all occasions the track surface has been different.

That said as indicated he appears to have improved his average if all the season's matches to date were eligible for average calculation.

As a slight aside I'd just like to say that Berwick fans have a good rider, perhaps soon to be great, in David Bellego.

I seem to remember the rubbish bellago got on here when he first started at Berwick....how the times have changed on the fickle forum!!

I remember hearing one such inventive bit of abuse shouted at him at Berwick

And people wonder why some people comment on the narrow minded, uncultured comments of some of Berwicks fans!!

a temporary surface, not a league track!!

has the same basic shape as Berwick and has been used for world finals / GPs for years

Aspegren has always been inconsistent, awesome to watch when in full flight, some of his passes are unreal, but hes prone to go through spells with low scores with the odd good ride.

The woeful score from Morris cost the bandits lastnight but three home defeats already doesnt look good , if ashworths out long term then a replacement needs to be found. As proved lastnight guests canot be relied on every meeting
