wandersome
For fear that Somerset vs Nobody would get more interest than us i'm going to start a thread. I think a reasonably routine win for Somerset though Bjerre, Nieminen & Karlsson usually seem to go ok. Doolan's previous scores look a bit and miss around the oak tree though and Graversen appears to struggle even though i have a dvd of our first trip to Somerset in 2011 and he looks pretty handy in that. Hopefully Branford will hit the ground running and Nielsen will remember that he's turned the corner (it was a couple of weeks ago now). Whilst I'm really looking forward to this meeting, It should be noted i will be taking my whole family as a human shield in case the Lions lynching mob are there for me. Haven Holidays here we come! RebelRebel
Branford should add a sting in the tail for the Lions whilst everyone else are pretty handy around the OTA. Wouldn't be surprised if the Lions nick a point.
Najjer
Branford should add a sting in the tail for the Lions whilst everyone else are pretty handy around the OTA. Wouldn't be surprised if the Lions nick a point. Why? He's been poor for numerous seasons, and I can't see how winning a meeting in a pretty poor field makes him a world beater all of a sudden. He might score the odd point, but 'sting in the tail' is somewhat over the top.

Somerset easy far to strong for us. i also agree and i hope he proves me wrong signing a rider on the back of one meeting could be a disaster. my hope is lewis dont take the huff and i wont blame him if he did i wouldn't like it if my boss came to me and said" you have now got to share your job " i am sure somewhere like scunny would offer him the chance of full time employment due to the problems they are having at the moment with their reserves. oldtimer
I read that Gary May could change the riding order for this match. For me Jason, Josh and Alex are our heat leaders, with Nick not as good as those three at the Oak Tree, a track he said he does not like. It does not make sense to have two heat leaders, Alex and Jason in heat 1, Alex has scored 11+2, 11+2 and 12+1 in his three Oak tree outings, so as our second top scorer lets put him at number 5 and Kyle at number two with an inside gate in heat 1. With Nick taking Kyles place at number 4, it will make us stronger in heat 14 where we are weak in a close match. I think you're on the right lines OT, although I'd rather see us something like this: 1/ Doyle 2/ Newman 3/ Davies 4/ Morris 5/ Grajczonek 6/ Perry 7/ Nielsen

I was waiting for someone to say the rules don't allow my suggestion, but I think apart from reserves and your number one, you can ride in any order you like. Tonights match difficult to call, I think Leicester are a better team than their results have shown and they should be good gaters as apparently you can't overtake at Leicester. Somerset we are told, have apparently put fresh shale on the track which should make it more grippy, but with the dry weather, will they water a lot to keep the dust down or leave it alone. A different track could catch our riders out. If we lose a point tonight some questions will have to be asked, and our reserves need to at least score their averages. Spot on with your first point about team positions. However, your last point about the reserves, the way our team is built relies heavily on the top 4 especially scoring big points. We seen at home to Plymouth when one of them doesn't do this (Doyle in that case) we need someone else to step up to the plate then - this is where the reserves are needed. I think we will more than enough to get all 3 points tonight, but if Nielsen and Perry can only score 3 points each tonight then serious questions must be asked. This is a poor reserve pairing that Leicester have, and our reserves should be looking to have a field team in this fixture as they will come up against much stronger opposition.

I'm with you on this one Najjer. i said when the side was announced that we were too top heavy and a better balance was needed, or one of the reserves had to be capable of scoring heavily when needed. As it is now, as you say, if one of the top 5 is struggling there is no-one to step up. Time for Tom especially to bang in some points tonight. rustyre bel1
Good speedway match all credit to the Lion's, 2 heat leaders down but still fought hard to make a match of it, the score do not reflect the racing but the Rebels on this form on a well prepared track would have beaten any team

No lie to say more entertainment in one night at the oak tree than a season at BP. Good to see all our promoters were there to see what proper speedway racing on a proper speedway track actually should look like. johnd7244
What happened to two of Lions heat leaders? What was the score? What happened to the posters on this thread from the Rebels and Lions supporters? Did Robert Branford impress in his first meeting for the Lions? Hope some of you Rebels can give me some answers. Can only assume Lions posters are too busy whingeing over the state of Beaumont Park's track or what a rubbish promoter we have. Cheers JohnD7244 Enjoy your speedway.
