manchesterpaul
I stand to be corrected but i think i've got this right. The top 5 were initially due to go through. The meeting ended with 3 2 run-offs which were i'm guessing as such. 1. Obviously a first place run-off. (Pavlic beat Miskowiak) 2. As i understand it, only two riders from a country are allowed to progress, this necessitated a run-off between two of the Polish riders. (Ulamek beat Kolodziej) 3. A run-off for the reserve spot in the final. (P.Karlsson beat Suchanek and Heffenbrock) QUALIFIERS IN BOLD. 1. J. Pavlic 14 (+3) 2. R. Miskowiak 14 (+2) 3. H. Andersen 12 4. S. Ulamek 11 5. J. Kolodziej 11 6. N. Porsing 9 7. P. Karlsson 8 (+3) 8. T. Suchanek 8 (+2) 9. C. Heffenbrock 8 (+1) 10. J. Tabaka 7 11. M. Kus 6 12. M. Gavenda 5 13. G. Franchetti 3 14. J. Pecnik 2 15. D. Stojs 2 16. P. Kondratiuk 0 * UPDATE it would seem that Ulamek got the second available Polish place on countback? (some sources initially had it down as a run-off) Edited May 3, 2013 by manchesterpaul
f-s-p
There usually IS a runoff if riders are tied on qualifying or podium places.
SteveLyric2
Pavlic beat Miskoviak!
Bavarian
Pavlic beat Miskoviak! Sure, but the question is, did Ulamek beat Kolodziej, or why was there no race-off between the two Poles tied on 11 points ?
manchesterpaul
Pavlic beat Miskoviak! Yeah i had a typo, but the scorechart directly below it was right in two places . Sure, but the question is, did Ulamek beat Kolodziej, or why was there no race-off between the two Poles tied on 11 points ? Explanation and kerfuffle surrounding the non run-off here http://www.sportowef...ie-w-finale-ime Edited May 3, 2013 by manchesterpaul
Bavarian
Aha, that explains it. So it was always the intention that a maximum of two riders per nation are in each of the three qualifying rounds. A third Polish riders (Ulamek) only got into the line-up of the Debrecen round as a substitute for Chris Harris, following the withdrawal of the British riders. That's were the confusion starts. There was no run-off between the two Poles, the final positons were decided on count back, and as they both had three wins and two third places, their direct heat race encounter, where Ulamek beat Kolodziej, was decisive.
