DAVEK
Phew, David Hoggard says it was just an off night. Thank goodness for that. I hereby retract my previous post as everything is clearly OK. All bodes well for us tonight then - Panic Over
Boothers
......................and when the new averages come out in all probability, Dyer will be in the main body of the team and Wilkinson at reserve. The new averages were in effect for this meeting. Micky Dyer's GSA has actually dropped from the start of the season despite his 'true average' rising by 2.73 points! Gotta love those Rolling Averages.
Halifaxtiger
Yes, two reserves and a reliable number two, otherwise you will see more thrashings like this. Problem is they are the riders that Sheffield can't change because they are on assessed averages. Nor could Sheffield use a guest for Hall, so they had to go for rider replacement. I do think that everyone needs to take a step back here. Sheffield aren't the first side to be mugged by Micky Dyer riding at reserve and won't be the last. If he had scored what an opposition reserve for any other team would have scored this would have been close. Stead and Haines did their job and although Wells still didn't perform as expected he wasn't rubbish. Hall was badly missed - he'd definitely have scored more than the 6 (excluding the TR) that R/R got for him. The crucial failure was Albin. He's definitely better than that and maybe, as Hoggy says, this was an off night for him. The one area that Sheffield do have problems in is their frightening weakness at reserve means that any slips from the top 5 and they are in deep trouble. You would expect - even with Dyer in the form that he is - your reserves to beat more than 1 opposition rider in 8 rides.

A reserve in the current form of Micky Dyer isn't something many teams will have or face. It was his points that won a match for them away at Berwick, and also rescued them from certain (and pretty ignominius) defeat at home five days later. Tigers have the best rider in the league -- certainly better than Craig Cook -- just now, and weaker reserves are a price paid for being able to watch such a class act every week. Last night it was Dyer, plus the absence of Richard Hall and the unexpected failure of Facundo (please don't call him 'Frank', I understand he doesn't like it!) that turned the tables. Is Facu all right after his spill? To suggest, as an earlier poster did, he be dispensed with amid wholesale changes is just a bad joke. Who could possibly want to get rid of the brightest, probably most-popular, discovery the Tigers have turned up in years? Now that would have an adverse effect on attendance! He has started at 2 in the main body of team and for me done very well. Looked down on power last night sure he will put it right.
Charlieboy
Charlieboy - we had no choice but to go for R/R, can only have a guest for your no. 1 (unless we signed a replacement and redeclared the team) Yes im aware of that and thats what i was implying.Probably sign a rider, redeclare then bring hally back when fully fit and redeclare again.Other teams seem to do it but we dont seem to do anything until its too late. After last season i thing our management team need to be seen to be pro active or crowds will drop alarmingly.I just want to see new riders coming in not the old brigade. Andrew
and weaker reserves are a price paid for being able to watch such a class act every week. Was there a need to be SO weak though ?,The team as built was 1.52 under the limit,so there was room to sign a stronger rider. And why Facu wasn't started at 6 or 7 is another mistake made by the managment...
Pinny
Get rid of Koppe, other riders have been dropped on assessed figures despite the ruling. Its quite clear that even from reserve hes going to get nowhere near a 5.00 figure

Steve55
Glad to see Skiddy walk away from that one, didn't really see what happened there, saw Koppe lift on the back straight, but he seemed to be on the outside and Hugh on the inside, behind Wells. Thought he'd hit Wells and that's why he went off at that strange angle. Anybody see what actually did happen? Been shown some 'snap shots' of the incident last night - Koppe was on the outside of the back straight, on the back wheel, next to the fence, alongside Wells who was much closer to the inside. Skiddy is on the inside of Wells and as they come to the third bend Wells starts making the turn and appears to be going for an inside line on Ostergaard who can be seen infront, mid-track. Skiddy then appears to start moving out toward the centre of the track and clip the rear of Wells. He then continues in that direction whilst parting company from the bike, misses the fence, and hits the dog track. Luckily he walked away from it and I wish him all the best and a full and speedy recovery. However I can't see why Koppe was the cause of it. Wells kept his line and the only one moving off line was Skiddy, towards Koppe. Explain that one ref!
whitelinewarrior
Saw this coming soon as we went for r/r/ we are not good enough to cover hally and carry 3 riders.Weve got points to play with but are doing nothing about it.Rumours of Benji compton coming back !!!!!!!!!!!! Wow that would alter things ????? Last night was a joke.We took a big gamble at the start of the season and its not working.I know its only early days but the crowds will drop off.Expect a pasting tonight and next week at somerset. Hope skiddys ok after his nasty crash. Saw benji riding at Scunthorpe after the grasstrack meeting and he looked really good for his 1st time back on a bike. After 4 years out to concentrate on his hairdressing career, maybe he has had the time to grow up and change where he went wrong before!?! Only time will tell,
