Sheffield Vs Redcar Bears - Thurs 2/5/2013

Recommended Posts

Sounds like Sheffield missed Hall bigtime tonight,I was expecting ex Tiger Huge Skidpants to score a few more then he did tho..

Not sure Hall would have made a difference on this occasion. Skidders may have got a few more save for taking a trip on to the dog track in his 4th ride

Well done Redcar, good times to come for you this year! I felt embarrassed tonight being a Sheffield supporter and I have never said that before! Also, thank god Hugh wasn't seriously injured in that horrific crash on the dog track.

Why can't Wells pass anybody round Sheffield. Well done Redcar you deserved to win. Sheffield looked like last years team. Rubbish. Apart from Steady top class. Joe to some extent. not to bad. For me all the others a lot to be desired. Sorry but we need to change the team as soon as the averages allow. Albin at reserve plus 1 more reserve and someone in main body of team. But I am not sure Mr Machin will do that. If we don't change things we will finish up like last year. Struggling at home. Then the attendance will drop off. Then what

Have to agree first and foremost well done Redcar and also relieved to see Skiddy get up from that terrible crash.

The Bears have the base of a very good team and will only get better. As for Sheffield?? Well i had a feeling that this was coming, we are no where near strong enough to cope with R/R HOME and especially away. We have by far the weakest reserves in the league and something has to change for the good of keeping the fans coming through the gate.

As for tonight

Mickey Dyer - enjoy him Redcar he is definately going places fast, very stylish and best away rider to visit this season without doubt.

Summers was class and backed up well by the rest of the bears.

Sheffield

Steady - Untouchable even by the impressive Dyer, completely in a different league to anyone at Owlerton. Quarter a lap in front every race tonight and could if pushed go quicker.

Facu - Bad night at office, im sure he will be disappointed but will come back stronger.

Haines - Did ok tonight keeps getting better.

Wells - i am not going to jump on his back, just feel Owlerton doesn't suit him but he more than does his job away from home.

Koppe - Got to go SIMPLE!! He may be a fantastic Motorcyclist (words from 1 of our management team) thing is it doesn't mean you are any good on a Speedway bike.

Knight - Is trying but seemed way off pace tonight, will get the odd points but needs a good reserve alongside him otherwise too much pressure on him.

Well we saw what was coming on Tuesday when the Scunny match was on Sky & he arrived tonight in style - Micky Dyer was brilliant, 16 + 1 from his six rides. Three of our riders scored a total of 3 points from thirteen rides! It was embarassing for the Tigers & would possibly have been worse had it not been for Steads 15 point max.

You have got to change this team or the terraces will be empty come summer. Sheffield were very poor against what appears a mediocre Bears team on paper, however that was the best I've seen Summers ride Owlerton & Matej Kus seems to be getting over his early season depression, taking it out on the Tigers tonight.

Joe was average & Ricky Wells had his best ride when on the tactical, just pipping Kus for second, however he just doesn't seem to be happy on Sheffield shale as someone has already alluded to. It's no good busting a gut to pass someone and then not defending the best line, allowing them to pass in return!

After the meeting during free practice Steady went out on the bikes of the two reserves, he showed that there's nothing wrong with their machinery, it's the guys that are on them! Neil/Hoggy you've got to look else where - they are two good lads who are doing their utmost, of that there's no doubt, but their best just aint good enough and against teams with decent riders at reserve we are going to get hammered (again).

Anybody know why Mr. Machin was wandering around the car park after the meeting? Had he a arranged a clandestine meeting with a potential new rider or was he looking if anybody had dropped their wallet so he might pay his riders later this month when there's no fans turning up!

Saw this coming soon as we went for r/r/ we are not good enough to cover hally and carry 3 riders.Weve got points to play with but are doing nothing about it.Rumours of Benji compton coming back !!!!!!!!!!!! Wow that would alter things ????? Last night was a joke.We took a big gamble at the start of the season and its not working.I know its only early days but the crowds will drop off.Expect a pasting tonight and next week at somerset. Hope skiddys ok after his nasty crash.

Mediocre ? We actually thought we were good on paper but have been well under achieving of late

In the Star this week Neil Machin tips Ricky Wells to become one of the Premier League's class acts and that the crowd will love him now that he doesn't wear his Wolves kevlars. Well, good luck with that.

We have a superb number one in Steady, and a second string who would have been in every combination that I would have put together in Joe Haines, and Richard would have made little difference to the end result.

Albin looked lost, Koppe is trying too hard and I fear he is not good enough and I have no complaints with Jake but it is a step too far for him this year. However, there has been no change with Wells from last year. He might get a few points away from home but I pay my £15 at Owlerton to watch him ride with all the passion of a wet fish after watching him beat Elite League heat leaders on Sky. It is clear that his heart lies with Wolves and, after the efforts of last season and the comments of Nigel Hinchliffe in the track review in the Star during the winter, he would have been on none of my team building combinations.

I agree with a chat I had with Squall's dad where he says we should have gone for Claus Vissing when he was available and Simon Lambert who have been the perfect reserve. Too late now, the mistakes have been made and I hope that there can be some changes before the fans drift away again.

REDCAR. the new sleeping giants of the premier league. brill result for the bears and theres more to come.

well done..

you are going to be up there at the end of the season.

Dunno about that - they're not riding against Sheffield every week and when the new averages come out in all probability, Dyer will be in the main body of the team and Wilkinson at reserve. They might not then be the same proposition, although if Summers and Kus can maintain their form of last night who knows?????

Glad to see Skiddy walk away from that one, didn't really see what happened there, saw Koppe lift on the back straight, but he seemed to be on the outside and Hugh on the inside, behind Wells. Thought he'd hit Wells and that's why he went off at that strange angle. Anybody see what actually did happen? I do know that he was concussed and had to go to hospital to be checked out. Would appreciate an update on that too. Will he ride tonight?

the new averages come into effect on wednesday the day before they rode sheffield

the rolling averages make it possible for riders like micky dyer to stay at reserve longer

Skidmore has been advised to rest for a week according to the local newspaper so it will be R/r for him tonight.
