Chris Harris Cardiff Wild Card

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but what with all the discussion/squabbling over Bombers wild card it appears to have missed everyone that, whilst he has qualified on merit, Ales Dryml will be replacing Darcy at Cardiff.

Must admit, I was umming and arring about going to Cardiff, but this has confirmed my decision to go. The excitement of witnessing an at best 'Elite League' reserve flying around at the back is just too much not to be seen :o

Dryml justifying my decision to attend Cardiff once more :o

I did find it quite funny how Tai said in an interview in Prague that everyone at Cardiff will be there to watch just him - cheeky little dig at Bomber there. Could be fireworks between them at Cardiff :D

Also find it funny that Scott Nicholls, who would have been GP wildcard suing the old British final rule is already out of the GP qualifiers having failed to finish i the top 10 in a pretty weak field!

I wouldn't be too smug about it, Harris didn't get much further last season.

The more chances Harris gets, the more he looks like the sporting equivalent of a scrounger. For his sake, I hope he bucks his ideas up and actually qualifies by right this season. Relying on constant charity only helps to make the rider more delusional in my eyes.

Regarding the Wild Card for the GP Challenge in Poole, I hope someone else gets an opportunity to shine.

You would! I watched that meeting and it was dire, made the last GP seem like the best meeting ever - it didn't seem to matter who you were if you made the start then that's largely how they finished. Janowski was luck to qualify in my opinion due to a re-run and Dilger & Kroner got lucky with not having to race Smoli and Pawlicki due to falls.

To be fair he has qualified by right in the past, by finishing in the top 8 (6th I think). He's also won a gp. So it's not all charity and even when it was, realistically we didn't have anyone better.

Bomber will always be my personal favourite as a local lad no matter how he's riding, but unfortunately he does seem to be in decline at the moment. For that reason if there HAS to be a 2nd British rider, and Harris doesn't qualify outright, then I'd rather the wildcard went to Cook.

Even better though would be for it to go to none of them and be give to one of the young Danes instead!

Anyway, roll on Cardiff and come on Bomber!

So, the wild card was chosen back in October! Why the big secret? And if the choice was down to marketing reasons then a, why not announce it when the tickets actually went on sale and b, would have thought speedway reasons might have been a good idea for the reason behind the wild card but then again as fans what would we know.

The BSPA picked the reserves then, The whole thing stinks and to hear Paul Bellamy going on about Bomber and really Tai didn't get a mention. Just goes to show if your face fits your going to do ok.

Well done BSI and BSPA a job well done.

As Ive said all along, I'm not claiming Harris is a great choice but the people suggesting others should have ti are also wrong IMO. Nicholls proved in a GP qualifier he's nowhere near GP standard any more. I think Kennett proved on Sky last night he's no GP standard either, he was barely PL second string standard.

As for that excuse, bollocks. Thats speedway, sometime it's slick and hard to pass, GPs too sometimes. You have to be able to ride all tracks. Scott has enough experience now he should be able to pop out of the start and be a road block for 4 laps now but thats his problem now, his gating was never great but it's terrible these days.

FWIW, if I had to name a wild card today, I'd probably pick Craig Cook.

I think the BSI get more like the BSPA every day lol.

As it's their competition and nothing to do with the BSPA, why didn't BSI announce that Bomber was the Cardiff wildcard back in October when they made the decision?

Are you being deliberately obtuse? The decision taken in October was the winner or highest non GP rider in the British final wasn't to get the Cardiff WC. Not that Harris was getting it.
