Guest Windy
Here's a name for you all Bluey Scott I was about 9/10 yrs of age. He always seemed to loose it on the home straight and wrap himself around the gate post. (Long Eaton Archers around 1965)?? Ray Wilsom and Ray Cresp were around towards the latter 60's. What was Kid Bodies real name?? Did his mum ever find out that he was a speedway rider??

SCB
I know who you mean, he used to wear a grey jacket, very 80's looking, even in the late 90's I never actually got to know the guy, very strange fan, would wear Long Eaton tinted glasses and would swear and shout up at the ref's box if a decision went the wrong way. Never saw him at away matches though But like someone said, you would dread it when he would start heading towards you to chat. Still, that's what speedway was all about, characters. He's probably thw weirdo we have at Newport. Though come to think of it I havent seen our weird person for a long time, so he has either gone or has blended in with the rest of us! He was the kind of person everyone tried to avoid, if you saw him walking towards you then you looked the other way.

Cagey
Being a Long Eaton fan I have some great memories of Station Road, I guess the biggest is 58-20 against Scunthorpe in 1984 to win the League. On a different subject I was at Telford recently and bumped into Todd Aitkin - the Long Eaton starting marshall, he's now 71 and it was really nice to meet up with him again - look forward to seeing you at the first meeting at the new Long Eaton Stadium - if it happens !! I was only 10 at the time, so my memory is not too good, but I do recall winning the fours and pairs a lot better Remember the female start marshall we had for a couple of years, I cant remember her name though. He always seemed to loose it on the home straight and wrap himself around the gate post.(Long Eaton Archers around 1965)?? If it was 1965 , Long Eaton must've been racing Glasgow, as Scott rode for them that year.

RobMcCaffery
No Greyhoundp it was LongEaton, i used to watch Ivor Brown at Cradley Heath. But that day i went to Long Eaton, you are right about the facilities pretty much the same. Bear in mind Ivor was promoter at Long Eaton during the Rangers' BL2 era.

Vincent Vega
Cagey/Ashie I would be grateful if you could answer me the following 2 questions. 1. Will the purchase of Station Rd be completed in time for speedway to be held there in 2005?? 2. I was watching an old video of Long Eaton the other day and the interviewer with long hair and a beard was called Ken Parton who was brilliant. Is he still around the speedway scene??
