'Every Saturday Night at 7.00pm'

Maybe its now, Sometimes on a Saturday Night at 7.00pm ?

You're absolutely right. Next match Rye v Sheffield 11th May - why the 8pm start? Then we wait until 8th June, I don't bloody believe it, a league match against who? Plymouth of course!

I'm not gutted any more, I'm furious. I've been to loads of away meetings that have been rained off close to the start, but at least they gave it a chance. That's the nature of being a speedway fan in this country unfortunately... To call off a meeting this early on the strength of a questionable weather forecast, just to placate half a dozen or so away fans that may have travelled, is ridiculous... Wonder how much he saved on riders travelling costs today?

Dead right and you have every reason to be angry.

As to the away fans, they will be anything but placated. The lads I know from Plymouth booked overnight accommodation in the area as they are going on to Newcastle today. They ended up going to Eastbourne instead.

What sticks in my craw is the sheer lack of effort to get the meeting on- not for the first time in my experience. I doubt if any complaints about falling crowds at rye house will attract much sympathy.

I feel for those Plymouth fans. I've been there a few times too. A couple of years ago I was on the Northern Tour with Rye House, based in Berwick. Made it to Edinburgh where we saw 2 heats before the heavens opened. Berwick the following night was the real shocker. It had rained a little in the day, but by late afternoon it was blue sky and bright sunshine. Despite this the meeting was postponed. I climbed up onto the wall outside the stadium to see the track. A couple of puddles on the first turn and that was it! Berwick had injury problems that day and we looked like we were going to take something away from there for a change. That was clearly Berwick Bandits not wanting to race that night

fecking joke uncle Len. :icon_smile_clown:

I travelled with my Kids 20 miles from Saffron Walden - not a cloud in the sky on leaving at 6.15pm or arriving back at 7.15pm

Upon arrival Hoddesden at 6.45p was grey and spitting with rain - but dry...

Saw Jason Garrity Leaving the track @ 6.50pm - what had he been doing? Practising on a watelogged track or did he not get a message in the morning that it had been cancelled... :o

This is about the 3rd time this has happend to us in the last couple of seasons - Didn't even check to see if meeting was on because I thought it was a nalled on cert! :o

No wonder crowds are falling at Rye!

It is beginning to look like Len may have to consider a Sunday meeting, 5th or 19th May unless, he can get Leicester to switch their fixture, move the US handicap meeting next Saturday or have Plymouth on the 11th May then use the reserved date, 25th for the visit of Sheffield.

Who'd be a speedway promoter!

As I said - a Sunday meeting. Fixture re-arranged for 26th May at 4pm.
