Berwick Bandits V Sheffield Tigers Pl 27-04-13 7pm

Recommended Posts

I didn't go last night, I've actually chosen go to ashfield over Berwick the last few weeks, solely becoz Berwick track is utter rubbishe & Glasgow is far more entertaining in all aspects!

The quality of racing Is awful, and the atmosphere is flat @ Berwick....sad to say this bandits fan of 29 years has turned into a tiger!

Fine, if you say so. However, given some of the statements you've put on here in recent months (honeymooning at Bahia Blanca was a classic) some of us will probably discount your post as dribble

yeah because I'm such a sad individual that I make up stories??? Why would I do that?? Enlighten me....

I did indeed go on honeymoon to south America, & took in a speedway meeting whilst there...so what?

What's your issue with me?

Why you interested?

Do you not have anything in your life better to do than assume people tho are living a full, active life better are automatically telling lies???

Qu. When did you last see a real pair of Boobs?

I can't really agree with you. Didn't you watch Heat 15 on Saturday -- when the bonus point was on the line? It was a cracker, with Ricky Wells, Kevin Doolan and Kozza Smith swapping the minor places for three laps several times before the last lap settled the 3-3.

If you get a race as good as that in every meeting, it can't be too bad.

What bloody meeting were you at,Wells,Doolan and Smith swapping places several times inHt15. :o :o

Must be honest I think this season is a very much critical season in the long term future of Berwick speedway. I have only been to one meeting this season so Im not going to cast judgement on the rest when I havent seen them, but judging by some loyal fans getting fed up and one even deciding to go and watch Glasgow, I really do wonder where the promotion go from here. Nobody can fault the infrastructure work and improved stadium facilities that the promotion have put in place, also they've improved the image of Berwick speedway from the Peter days, also dropped the admission. The real issue is though you can do the best promotional and ground work in the world, but if the product just isnt very good, people arnt going to go and watch it. I understand the promotion are in a very difficult position regarding changes to the track, so I dont personally know what I would suggest, perhaps a change of curator, see if that could do anything. As much as I am vocal when I see something I dont like, I really do hope speedway can pick up again at Berwick as it would be a shame if it was lost. One thing I think would also help is if the people who do press releases and are quoted in the press regarding the club all sung from the same hymn sheet, not having one person coming out saying Berwick have one of the biggest budgets in the league, then there saying they need more fans and there struggling, that doesnt really wash with fans imo.

These are just my views anyways, I look forward to the majority disagreeing with them :) .

I think it's the most sensible post you have ever made.

There is a lot of debate about the equipment being at the root of the problem around the country: new silencers in particular.

What are your thoughts on that?

Tbh I really dont know anything about them so I wouldnt like to guess. One thing I will say is speedway in general doesnt seem as exciting in my view since they introduced these silencers last season, so theres a good chance they are having a big effect. What do you think?

Sad as it may be speedway is dying all over. I was at Coventry tonight and take away the Wolves fans and well!! Not many there I tell you. Machinery, Silencers whatever have got out of hand. Edited by Elesmere Gunner

My wife attended the meating last night as i was at work. This is the first time she had ever left any meating before completion, didnt even stay to give the 2nd half any support which we usually do.

The last couple of meatings the track seems to have two difinitive lines, the inside one and the outside. Set the bike up for the inside and great gate and go racing, touch the deeper stuff and the bike die's and you'll go backwards.

Has installing the safety fence made the track slightly narrower?

The original fence was moved back to accommodate the the new safety fence.

So its down to me to bring the positivity back to the Berwick threads. ;)

We all agree that theres a problem with the on track product on a saturday night, modern bikes, material used, track prep have all been debated upon as to the reasons for such go and go racing. But I dont think theres any problem thats insurmountable, maybe our promotion needs someone from outside the club to take a fresh look at track prep,Doc Brigetts name was mentioned, maybe they can get advice from him.

You echo my thoughts exactly,

Like you, I've been once this season, and don't know if I'll be back - a few years ago, nothing made us miss the speedway on a Saturday.

It's good to see Gary Flint bringing on young riders, but I fear it may be too late.
