Redcar V Newcastle League Cup Thursday 25th April 2013

In this instance it was problems with the Track that caused the delay at the Start of the Meeting.

I'm aware of that - I'm there - but its really really poor - this is supposed to be professional sport -

What a point, for a 5 man team..... Can't believe track work didn't start until 645pm!! Hope Ritchie and Aaron are ok, says on the updates Ritchie turned right in him, what a load of rubbish, Aaron cut across him leaving him nowhere to go against the home straight fence..,.

How on earth the redcar fans can call our track and fans is beyond me, track was a disgrace, and some of the fans even more so.... In the stand on home straight ( mainly teenagers)and some breast of a grown man on first bend, having a go at Ritchie while he was down being seen to by paramedics. Pathetic!!

Well done lads.

Is Richie OK?

walked back to pits, abit knocked about. Withdrew from meeting but hopes to ride tomorrow.

no excuse if youve had sh#t from some of redcars fans mind, theirs @rseholes at all tracks.

redcars tracks has been crap for some time now and i couldnt understand myself why havvy started ploughing it so late in the day but it turned out one of the best preped so far this season, unlucky newcastle but to be honest we should of had more.

Not sure what time track prep started, but was shocked at state of track when I arrived. Had been no rain since three. That being said, although it took a while the track guys did a good job and was argubly the best it's been this season.

Big talking point was the summers/Worrall incident. First thing I would say is that from my angle I thought it was a racing incident. Summers got a lot of speed coming off turn four and maybe took Worrall a bit by surprise by overtaking just before entrance to turn one. I have to say though, from my angle looked like summers did not really give Worrall a great deal of room - on first viewing I thought summers was at fault. I did seem to be in a fairly small minority though. Glad to see both riders up and relatively unharmed.

Thought the bears were good value tonight. Ulrich looked more like a number one, although got away with what appeared to be a flyer in one heat. Skidmore looked off the pace, but looked to still be feels effects of his fall on Saturday. Great too see Kus get a few heat wins, and another good performance from Aaron. Dyer was again excellent and Davey battled very hard for his points.

For newcastle, Robson was excellent and gave it his all. Henry was very up and down, but Iudvig was very impressive again. Said this last time, but very impressed again with Kerr - Leicester must be kicking themselves. Who knows the score if Ritchie had been able to ride - but good to get a win over a very strong side.

Well for what it's worth i would like to commend all the riders for putting on what turned out to be a better meeting than i thought possible having arrived at 7 and witnessed the state of the track which at that time resembled a moto cross park.I think newcastle did well to get something from the meeting and have to say it was great to see a young english rider making his mark, so a big well done to Lewis Kerr. For the bears it was nice to see ulrich and matty amongst the points and special mention to Mitchell Davey who i thought did well. As regards the incident with aaron and richie i have to admit that from my view sat in the stand i did think it could have gone either way. The main thing though is that both riders got up and hopefully will be ok.

Good summary..... Ref let a lot of flyers go but warned 4 riders also.....he warned dyer for moving at the start but excluded steve for going through the tapes....in the same incident!!....strange :)

It's one of the great rules that speedway has - rider can move and get a warning , if he moves and touches tapes excluded. So Dyer moves, makes Worrall go who touches tapes (well actually demolishes and takes them for a tour of track!) and Worrall excluded - is it fair?? Whoever said speedway rules/interpretations were fair?

Was intending to go down to Redcar tonight but back from work too late and glad I didn't given the delayed start. Doesn't do Redcar any favours in terms of attracting fans back and no obvious excuse for it but its happened at Brough before so not for me to have a go or lay the blame. Just a shame for the fans. Sounds like the track ended up decent anyway.

Good effort from the 5 Diamonds. Hope Richie is ok, doesn't sound like it was too bad thankfully. We are vulnerable using r/r and can't afford any further injuries.

Redcar should really have picked up all 3 points but another home win at least and a much better performance than opening night.

In terms of the crowd reaction to Richie's fall..well I'm afraid we have plenty of idiots at Brough so we can't really complain.

have to agree with Boz regarding the Summers/Worrall accident. Yes Worrall was abused by some fans but it was nothing compared to what Ive heard from Newcastle supporters on my visits to Newcastle. Mr Worrall certainly appears to be getting a reputation for these kind of accidents.

The track prep didnt start until late because apparently Mr Havelock was quite happy with the track conditions and wanted them leaving which would of meant a very heavy track making turning difficult but the referee was unhappy with the track conditions and ordered Mr Havelock to remove the top surface from the whole track.

As it was the referee seemed to know what he was talking about as it produced the best racing strip of the season at redcar. So yes Newcastle were weakened by the withdrawl of Richie Worrall but that only counteracted the use of R/R for Tully which has only made Newcastle stronger.

Without doubt the rider of the night was Micky Dyer, his pass up the boards on bend 3 and 4 actually proved that it can be done, from 3rd to 1st in one full throttle move was a pleasure to watch.

So Mr Havelock please take note of the track tonight, it was a lot better than the ploughed up field you have been producing all season.

racing was crap with only dyers pass of any note.....nearly all gate and go?? Dyers move was good, but feel robbo got done by trying to team ride a much slower Steve... Henry and kus are slow and at the back one race then fast as any when they trap.... Mitchell Davey was on the pace tonight also.... First time I've seen him be.

If that is the best the track has been all season - then God help us!

If you like to watch "gate and go" then fine. I personally like to see a bit of genuine over-taking.

One riding line all night, tonight, meant that was impossible.

Pedersen didn't win three world titles by waving the opposition past him.

Interesting comments about Redcar's track and fans. Will note them for when the term "rough park" appears next ;)

Good to take a point with a 5 man team.

Rough Park - there you go , didn't have to wait too long.

Track was fine after the work was done (although why it was in such a state to start with and why it was left so late to do anything to it is another question). Yes it had rained but not enough to cause an hours delay.

Racing wasnt great but saw a couple of good races.

Bears still inconsistent but getting better. Good recovery from the Diamonds to get a point.

Move on.

I think that is a really valid point regarding Richie Worrall, I believe he has a similar mentality and as a consequence he is involved in first bend incidents and those like we saw tonight, other riders may have backed off when summers dived in front and crash could have been avoided, however would Nicki Pedersen - no, and neither does Richie Worrall, he sees the need to fight for position and not give them up. An attitude I applaud in a young British rider, however I also think that he does need to be aware of the times that the odds are not in his favour and he needs to give in and live to fight another race and be aware of other riders positions - all of this will come with experience (he is a young rider with limited racing years). He does get some bad press and there is a thin line between hard riding and unfair riding! Best wishes to him, didn't seem too bad and hopefully back soon and progressing in his career. On point of fans I apologise on behalf of all genuine Redcar fans, but has been said on numerous occasions, ALL tracks have their morons!!
