Message To The Leicester Promotor

Maybe getting DH on the BIKERfm Speedway Show would be a good idea with the opportunity for fans to ask questions over the phone or send in messages and questions?

Having read this thread in its entirety to date it seems most people's opinions is the straights are too long for the tight corners and the costs with drainage are prohibitive to moving the bends in. A suggestion could be to only move one bend in to half the costs, bends 3 & 4.

If you would like us to approach DH to come on the show to answer your questions we can set that up?

Sounds a good idea

You only have to read the match threads over the last 24 months and you will see that so many people have said about the poor track, your right, making the straights alot shorter would make a start, then make the bends round.

These would be fair questions

How with a blank sheet, with tracks like scunthorpe, somerset, kings lynn as a template could you get it so wrong ?

Is he worried about why so many fans have walked away because he refuses to make the changes needed for better racing.

Chris, that would be fantastic.

I totally agree with you regarding the track work needed as well. I've heard similar ideas with just doing one bend to shorten the straights muted by others as well and if ever there was proof that it may work that way then the meeting vs. Ipswich was the proof, when a slower track suddenly resulted in a whole deal of overtaking in places we'd never seen before.

Something definately needs to be done. Last weeks crowd, easily our second best of the season i would say, was 1000 if it was that. That's a huge amount of the fans gone, probably forever. Of the people who still go we surely cant afford any more to walk, but if nothing is done there is nothing so sure to happen in my eyes.

Although i'm probably seen by all as an agitator, i'm sure some would say of the worst order, and David Hemsley probably doesn't want my money for just that reason, if we actually got someone in who knows what they are doing, someone like Glyn Taylor, and i knew for a fact that the track is where the money is going and the figures for doing it were realistic to the job being done then i'd still be quite happy to put a sizable donation into a fighting fund to make this happen.

All the best,

Mick.

The Interestingly point that i thought with regards to the Ipswich meeting was that just slowing up the racing and the bends suddenly didn't seem so sharp anymore. Making the straights shorter i do think would work. bend 1 and 2 produced plenty of passing left just as it was when riders were just going that little bit slower. It's never produced any at all, ever, with the speed they currently go around it.

Looking forward to hearing you ask him in person Robert, Don't waste a good opportunity to get the answers straight from the horses mouth, so to speak.

Well, your post suggested that the questions you raised hadn't been asked -

If you've already asked them, what did he say?

He was happy with the track and said the riders were also happy and they are why we are not making changes

After reading most of R72's comments on here I would be suprised if DH spoke to you at all! I can't decide if your just at the track or your dislike of DH

Resorting to exageration to get your point across is just plain silly. I have spoken to DH about the track and I mentioned that if we were in the Elite league there woul be even less overtaking and we seemed to agree on this. I would suggest that they took in the apex on the corners, maybe increase slightly the banking on 3 and 4 and have the shale a tad deeper. When the alterations were made DH should have left it to Glyn instead of trying to do a cheap, quick fix. For my part it's fantastic to have speedway back in Leicester and my own team to support.I will still go to as many matches as possible and the only match that I have found truely boring was the first match last year.

Just submitted my question to Biker FM :-

Can you ask David whether any further track changes will take place to improve the racing at Leicester.

Between 2011-2013 I have been to 8 meetings even though I only live 1 mile from the track. I would probably go to 10 meetings a year & invite friends&family but I can't justify £15 for the current standard of racing with very little passing. From what I've heard, only the Ipswich meeting has bucked the trend of minimal passing and this seemed down to the amount of rain leading up to the meeting.

i've just sat all the way through that interview with my phone in my hand. At what point was the option to call in offered.

Also, seeing as it was Bikerfm's track solution idea to shorten the straights why didn't you ask it when Hemsley was saying that to alter the track would require moving the stands etc. what a load of old b*ll**ks and 10 minutes of my life i'll never get back.

Well there you go. No surprise really !!!!!!!!!

Good interview though. I thought.

,

I thought it was good interview. A lot of coughing and clearing the throat as he told us all how Leicester is the best racing track in England and provides the best entertainment though. Thats me paraphrasing though as i was rubbing my eyes they were watering so much so may not have caught exactly what was said.

did my question end being used for the sole purpose of reinforcing his views about the racing.. i think it may of

I think Chris Simpson writes on the forum, tweets etc but is not on the show. So I think it was his idea, obviously didn't get passed to Paul asking the questions.

Disapointed how few people actually sent in questions or had them read out. I reckon pretty much everything they had sent in they read out, so you can't really blame BikerFM. Also DH answered all the questions asked, you may not like the answers given but he did answer them. Not sure where he got the best track in the country or some of the most passes are at Leicester from though.

Basically DH said there would be no major track changes, due to the high cost. So I think we can only expect minor/cheap changes, if anything-similar to what we have seen the last 2 winters. Therefore, for me this subject is closed, you either put up with what we've got or don't go.

See Post #196 above asking fans to call in, and via twitter, and via Leicester's 2 Facebooks ??? Were you waiting for written invites?

No i was waiting for the bit during the interview where you said call 0117 blah, blah blah if you want to ask david hemsley something. That's how phone in's usually happen isn't it? I sent in a shoutbox question asking you to ask your own question about shortening the track when David was going on about the cost of moving the stadium to accomodate track changes. I clearly need to work on my internet radio show skills !

and you appear to have posted that on the forum as he went on air??? surely an idea to post it before your show begins!

No don't think so. If you listened to the program on a regular basis you would know they don't do live phone ins they read submitted questions out. It may have something to do with licenses and things that may or may not be said on air and of course someone who wants to hold a 1/2 hour discussion with DH on air, which is probably not the point. Was your question asked and answered? (I did hear your name being mentioned or at least your nickname) If so job done
