British Under 21 Final - Dudley - 23/4/13

Recommended Posts

Well here 5 miles from the Track its a lovely sunny morning, should be a cracker with a full house expected. Likely winners i cant really see past Howarth and Garrity with Perry as the chief threat, and Nielsen and Morris as the spoilers, Garrity should win if he doesnt beat himself, and if the Track is prepared for racing we are in for a treat, looking forward to see how DG and Cleggy go in such a big meeting, and in front of a partizan home support. Good luck to all the riders, and stay safe.

Admission is £11 quid adults, £8 quid concessions and i think £2 or free for kids i cant remember exactly, plenty of parking, and its available in the streets around the Stadium.

Why does the title of the thread mention Dudley when the meeting is at Wolverhampton?

Taking a drive up to back the Brits and of course cheer on Ben Morley and Jason Garrity. My first visit to Monmore. Hope it's a good un without serious mishap.

Because Dudley are presenting it on behalf of the BSPA.

Shadders you will enjoy it, Im sure. The sun is still shining, if they have the Track right there will be some good racing, and i cant for the life of me see you having any serious mishap. The noisier element tend to be on the right hand side as you look out from the Grandstand, the more reserved types  prefer to be on the left coming off the fourth bend, and the left hand steps of the Grandstand. I will leave you to judge where i will be.

I've spoken to a number of the participants and knocked up a little preview here if anyone is interested:

That's a good read and certainly better than one can expect from the BSPA. ;) If I were being ultra-picky perhaps you could have nailed Morris down for a couple of lines. He looked very quick against Coventry around Monmore a couple of weeks ago and will surely be amongst the potential spoilers, assuming you subscribe to the like of Howarth, Garrity and Perry being the most likely to stand on the podium. :t:

Looking forward to what could prove an absolute cracker tonight. The weather is just about perfect. Not too hot or cold and dry so the track should be well prepared. Hopefully we can carry the Heathens and ex-Heathens to a positive result.

Anybody slightly worried that the British Under 21 champion is in fact Australian or is there something I've missed

Not at all. He declared his intention to ride for GB some time ago and as far as ii know he has a British Passport. Stop knocking the lad when he has just won the championship.

Wasn't knocking him at all I admit I could have phrased it better first time, but no I like Branford he's showed that you don't have to be riding full time to be champ and he even ridden himself into a NL team spot. And to be honest I was operating a anybody but Garrity policy for tonight

Well done to the young man, he has taken the steps to leave his family and try to make a name for himself as a BRITISH rider, He obviously has a lot of drive, I hope this opens some doors for him, he deserves a break after all the effort he has put in. Would have loved to know the odds on him winning!

Enjoy it Robert, you are British Under 21 Champion!!!

Well done -- who knows, Rob could in a year or two be rivalling the success of another Aussie-raised Brit we are all delighted to claim these days!

He might have been a Coventry Blaze rider this morning, but I can see about half-a-dozen PL reserve berths being cleaned out for him tomorrow!

He last rode PL for Berwick -- would they have any first claim on him (although they might not be currently interested, of course)?
