Was checking out some riders history, Uncle Len was one of them wondered if any of you had any more information about him.My uncle saw him ride for Exeter and said he was a very good rider a real racer exciting to watch.I never saw him ride of course but he is one of my speedway heroes a great servant and i loved my trips to the Wick Don't be late Friday at Eight! ?I know great and other terms can be mentioned but this bloke has lasted the test of time seems to have been around for ever. Also didn't he prepare the Wembley track in 81? a real speedway great for me.

Len Silver was always great entertainment back in the Seventies. When he opened Sunderland Speedway back in 1971 he always came on the Centre Green at Boldon with his Microphone and announced "Good afternoon everyone and welcome to 'SANNY SANDERLAND' - - even when it was pouring with rain.

Len Silver now epitomizes how people can become institutionalized. He has failed to evolve preferring the "this is how we did it in the past approach".

His Rye house promotion and his attitude to promoting is virtually the same as Hackney circa mid 70s.

Well said that man!!

Len Silver is a true Speedway man - I doubt if there is anyone currently in Speedway who has put as much effort in to the Sport as he has over the years. :t::approve: :approve: :approve:

Wouldn't dispute any of that guys. He was one of, if not the, best promoters of the seventies.

What you said to a degree is right 'Oldace' the sport has sat back and is still in the dark ages.Have you a answer to get the younger fan going i haven't ! my older boy often went with me enjoyed it but now aged 21 has lost interest. That age group have so many other thing,s to do nowadays but the annoying thing is he still knows what is going on in the sport and is interested. Its that sort of punter the sport needs to get back how though i have no idea.
