Jayne
Today sees the opening match of the season at Hi-Edge. Stoke Potters are the visitors and both teams will be looking for the win despite the fact there are no points at stake. Although the forecast is for it to rain later today the meeting is definitely on as we stand. There has been no rain since Thursday and the track is very dry so should stand up to some 'wet stuff' if it arrives. Any changes will be notified on here, facebook, twitter etc as soon as possible. Fingers crossed for the weather to stay dry and a good afternoon's racing.

SpeedwayTShirts
I gathered lots of interviews to go out on the BIKERfm Speedway Show this coming Tuesday for our Buxton Feature including Jayne Moss, Jack Lee, Ryan Blacklock, Adam McKinna, Tom Woolley, Matt Williamson, Chris Widman and Robert Branford who was guesting for the Potters. Well done today Buxton

P T Preece
A bit fed up really, no PA on the back straight which made it hard to hear the results and times and then the bloke in the boxs mike goes and packs up, never in my life have I left a meeting after watching it all the way through and not known the final score. Shame about the rain and no back up for the PA system after all the bloke uses a roving mike. Never even got the result of the 50/50 draw, always like my visits to hi-edge but thinking twice about coming again.

Riders seemed to struggle with bends 3 and 4. For Stoke, Smart was solid, Branford was dependable as a guest, Chessell rode well in one race, but had a nasty looking fall. Hughes was off the boil a bit, and Priest scored well. As for the reserves, Jones looked good until he was wiped out by Williamson (Stupid from Williamson. I'm putting it down to being an inexperienced rider, but it could have been a lot lot worse) and Tedham was awful. Him not being on the pace is one thing, but just giving up in one race is unacceptable. For Buxton, Wright was fantastic, Woolley was alright, Blacklock was erratic as always, Mckinna was solid. Atkin had bike problems, Widman was the best reserve on show, and Williamson looked ok, his clash with Jones apart. All in all, the rain didn't help, the broken PA didn't help, the lack of a mic didn't help. The fact that the announcer said he was waiting for someone to give him a new mic at around heat 6, and then didn't get one, seems a bit unprofessional. The burger place seemed to be run by new people, and they did a nice cup of tea. Every cloud and all that.

Don't normal go to many at Buxton as it's normal busy for me Sunday afternoon but for once I was visiting friends in Buxton and they came along for the first time........and the last; thought I'd brought them to the circus. Pity as it could of been a couple more for Buxton. Although if Shaun carry's on like that, then my visits to watch the racing may come to an end, certainly not gtting the buzz I used to and was in two minds if to continue this year. With Tedham it's not so much his poor performance but giving up in racing, if he can't be bothered then others will see it and can't be bothered themselves. Craftman
Sorry to say , but Buxton is a depressing venue with a track that has more banking than the Nuremburg circuit and a PA system to match. Fair dues to all the riders expect Tedham who can only be described as way out of his league ( or did he win his reserve slot in a competition ) ! Stoke look weak at reserve , although Jones seems to have something to work on and could be a shrewd signing for the future. I hope Kyle Hughes finds his feet soon , as we cannot afford a weak number 5 in this league. Looking forward to the return meeting
Neil H
Sorry to say , but Buxton is a depressing venue This from a stoke supporter brings the old phrase to mind - something about pots, kettles and a dark colour

Jayne
Apologies to those who attended and were effected by the problems with the PA. Not sure what the problem was as it was tested prior to the meeting and was working perfectly and also worked again when tested last night after the meeting. I for one thought the Hitmen rode well against a Stoke side tipped to be there or thereabouts at the end of the year. Some of the negative comments though (mainly from Stoke supporters) do make you wonder why we bother especially in the current financial climate. Craftman
Buxton as a team were excellent and easily deserved to win ( with only the tactical giving Stoke a chance ). The venue is situated in a beautiful part of the world , but the track itself leaves a lot to be desired at any level , and I won't apologise for being used to a flat track. Moaning Stoke fans or not , I'm sure you are grateful for their attendance and cash in the process . Hope to see plenty of Hitmen fans this weekend admiring the excellent views of Chesterton lol

Jayne, I would like to think that the majority if not all speedway supporters think/know you do a wonderful job just getting people along to quite an isolated position and problems do happen. I was trying to get you a couple more "regulars" but they thought that it was all a joke; that said I've in past years had some that I have brought along to Looomer rd that felt the same. Keep up the good work
greyhoundp
Buxton do a wonderful job for speedway, in a beutiful if remote location, and therein lies the problem, I have suggested before ways that it may be possible to raise money, ie Training weekends with Static caravans to hire, that for me must be a possible way to subsidise the NL Team, and when not being used for training, then there is the Stock Cars next door, so to advertise a Sporting weekend with Speedway and Stocks could possibly be a way forward. keep it up Jayne, i will be up there soon with the Heathens mob, make sure that the burger bar is fully stocked you know what the moaners are like, and order some sunshine plz. trophykid
Like I said earlier in this thread, I always enjoy my visits to Buxton. I watch speedway all over the country and I genuinely look forward to my visits there. So what about those minor snags, where's the Dunkirk spirt!? speedy bill
At Buxton on sunday it was a nice win for the new team, but it was a shame that the p a broke down,it is something that does not happen as a rule so people stop slagging Jayne off it could happen at any event. You have had some problem,s at Stoke with electrics so it proves it can happen anywhere.it was good to see ADAM going well Widdman looked good so did Ryan in his first two rides and new boys Tom and Matt tony is better than he was on sunday when he gets going and Charles was great i think we are in for a good season and we could reach the plat offs fingers crossed.
ChubbyChesgire
"You have had some problem,s at Stoke with electrics so it proves it can happen anywhere." Hmm things happening at Stoke don't prove that, as it's par for the course ! - and boy do we get stick for it....but we also give DT stick for it, as such things spoil it for the home fans as much as the away. This isn't a criticism of the events at Buxton, I wasn't there, but I agree things can go wrong anywhere and most of us will make allowances once or twice - it's when things keep going wrong or are not repaired (like at Stoke a couple of years ago) our patience runs out.
