Roger Jacobs
No many Devils fans on here, so thought I'd better start a thread for this pivotal match in the Southern LC qualifiers. Expected teams: Plymouth: Ty Proctor, Chris Schramm, Mark Lemon, Ricky Kling, Cory Gathercole. Reserves: Ben Reade, Todd Kurtz. Somerset: Jason Doyle, Alex Davies, Josh Grajczonek, Kyle Newman, Nick Morris. Reserves: Tom Perry, Stefan Nielsen. Any win for the Rebels will make them group winners. A draw will be almost certain qualification, barring a huge home win for Ipswich against the Devils. A <7 point defeat means they could be overtaken by Ipswich (if Witches get a >7 at home to Devils), and levelled by Rye House (so it would be race points difference with the Rockets). A >7 point defeat leaves the door open to both Witches or Rockets depending on their respective home results with Devils. Of course, the added incentive for the Devils tonight is that they could still qualify if they gained a >7 win v the Rabbles, and also >7 wins at both Hoddesdon & Foxhall ... Come on you Devils! Well, for tonight anyway Edited April 20, 2013 by Dave Love Speedway

RebelRebel
Would say that i'm surprised but i'd be lying. Terrible start to the season for the Rebels, dropped points at home already and only a draw away. The tag of title favourites couldn't be more misplaced. A team can't win a title by having riders who score 10+ a meeting at home and then 3s and 4s away. Alex needs to find consistency and Kyle really needs to be picking up his game at 4 if we want to stand any chance of being title contenders. Poor weekend of speedway from the Rebels, congrats to the Devils for tonight and most to likely Ipswich for going through.
Roger Jacobs
Well you got your wish Dave, Rebels couldn`t manage it, very disappointing. Kurtz is fast becoming top reserve in the Prem this year. Kurtz v Heeps is interesting. Tonight Kurtz "only" beat Newman, Nielsen & Perry (and couldn't pass Perry in 12) - although obviously having a ding-dong with Morris until Morris' unlucky retirement. Heeps has had some ups and downs too, e.g. passed by Perry at Foxhall. Kurtz v Heeps head-to-head at Plymouth last week was 2-2. Hope we can get a date for the Plymouth fixture soon - they can't let the LC drag on ... !
SCB
I said in the winter this Plymouth team was my dark horses, I still maintain is Ty can get the hang of the SBA and get going in the PL (he seems to be doing well in the EL) and Kling can pull his finger out that this team can still come good and surprise a few. I think every one of this Plymouth team has shown at some point this season what they can do, now they need to learn to do it together more often! Roger Jacobs
Still can't get my maths sorted - looks like Plymouth still need to win at both Ipswich and Rye House - but any wins should do it, not necessarily by 7 or more. Just so things dont get complicated the Witches better just win by 7 and put an end to it!!

No 4 is a tough slot, maybe switching Alex and Kyle would help Kyle, but the Doyle Davies duo is very strong, difficult. It is still early days yet though, plenty of time to sort it out imo. torpointfanatic22
For anyone that missed the announcement on the updates last night...Plymouth have replaced Ben Reade with Jake Anderson Edited April 21, 2013 by Mikeyt
oldtimer
First visit to the track and was impressed. very hard to pass on the tight circuit and if you made the gate and hugged the white line you won. Not the luxury of the Somerset club house, but 3 catering vans and two stands, one home straight one back straight. Also you were right on top of the action and a packed crowd made for a good atmosphere. Also speaker system good with loud music, entertainment from both the Somerset (Rooster) and Plymouth Devil on the centre green throughout the match, start line girls, and a kids half lap lolly pop race to watch during the interval. A good evenings entertainment and presentation all round, something sadly lacking at Somerset. Also cheaper than Oak Tree, free car parking, £11 concession entry and £2 programme, Mrs OT making her first visit to speedway for some time also enjoyed it. Well done Plymouth. Stefan had bike problem in his first race and looked slow all night and Alex worth more than his points.
Opinionated
Kurtz is missing from the trip to Rye House, and next weekends KO Cup meetings v Newcastle.Steve Worrall rides at Rye,While Berwicks Nick Barrett rides in the Cup meetings. Only real point of contention for me was Schramms move on Newman.Surely you need to leave a rider room to stay upright? Newman was in straight line coming off turn 2,right out on tbe boards.Schramm quite rightly went hard up the inside. But he didnt leave any room at all.Not an inch. It was totally out of order. He would have got through anyway. Its no wonder Newman 'had a word with him' afterwards. Yet more inept performances from Proctor and Kling. All credit to Ben Reade for wonderful interview about being dropped.Full of honesty and integrity.Quite rightly he got a huge cheer for it.Good luck with Stoke this season and come back stronger in future. lewy
proctor and kling both had mechanical issues hence the poor returns, hardly inept the night before at somerset totally agree with the decision with ben read and thought shrammy was man of the match as did many other people always thought this plymouth team would ruffle a few feathers this season and its starting!! Great first heat ride by Shrammy, Also looks like Mark Lemon is back, great riding by him in heat 15, looks like he has sorted the best way around the SBA, but agree with you about man of the match, Shrammy easily won it, you will have to go a long way to see a better win in heat one. Najjer
Looks like the extra practice Schrammy had with Seemond at the SBA saturday afternoon has done the trick. Is that including in him completing running Kyle Newman into the fence? Completely outragous move and unbelievably went completely unnoticed by the referee, which had to be one of the worst refereeing decisions I've seen at Speedway since awarding Jason Doyle 3rd at the Pairs in 2008. Had to laugh at the Plymouth fans on the back straight "he never touched him" - comical.

Bike problems, again? How many more times are we going to put up with this excuse? He goes to Poole and beats Holder. He scores double figures at Somerset and gets a paid maximum from his pdogrammed rides at Wolves tonight, before running a last in Ht15.Yes Ht 15 of an Elite League meeting! Yet at the SBA the only thing he beats is his own shadow.

Your only comic on this site, Newman lost it on going into bend two, what was Schramm going to do, put the brakes on, next time you come down put your red nose on you comical little man. Then you would probably agree that Morris was hard done by when excluded after cory locked up in front of him. If the ref is going to exclude Newman for being out of control then surely the same ruling should apply to Gathercole?
