Coventry Storm V Dudley Fri April 19th At 8pm

Yes totally echo the above posts, an excellent evenings entertainment, to be honest was expecting many delays with falls, engine problems etc. but the meeting was slick, the riders of both Storm & Heathens put on a brilliant show, times at best were only a couple of seconds slower than normal.

I would definitely encourage the many Bees fans who did not attend to give it a go, the teams deserve the support and were giving 110% effort.

Mick Horton deserves great credit for this venture, it was indeed a brave move, and I appreciate having my eyes opened to the standard of racing in the National League.

Coventry Bee and MFE,

Glad that you both enjoyed the meeting. Welcome to the world of NL speedway which is how you both described it. Riders wanting to get on with the match, no gardening at the start, no going back to the pits when there are false starts etc. I know that Laurence Rogers is really keen on ensuring that riders are ready to go out as soon as the previous heat is finished so hopefully with your positive comments it will tempt a few more Bees fans to come and try it. These lads need your support.

Has Robert Branford been signed as the replacement for Oliver Greenwood.

Don't think so, as far as I'm aware Robert's average is 0.52 over, so Storm would have to drop one of the reserves to fit him in!

Really can't see that happening!

Yes, i was pleased to see the Pits gate closed, so that riders cant go back to the pits,if there was a false start, that habit of going back is a pain in the backside, and ALL tracks should keep pits access closed, until a race is over, i will make sure i visit Coventry as often as i can, when work allows it, because this project deserves to succeed, and at a Tenner a time is value for money.

Going back to the pits after a false start was on many fans hate list but I think - at Coventry E.L. matches anyway - the promoters and referees have taken note and this no longer happens. About time too!

Can't get the clip to work , any ideas.

Chopper

works for me chopper, Rob rode well, probably unlucky not to be selected for heat 15, it was pretty much a gaters and 1st & 2nd bend track on friday, though there was some passing, what i meant was if they didnt overtake on the 1st or 2nd bend then the riders such as Sarj, JJ, Rob, Starkey, Blacky, all comfortably held 1st place, looking forward to seeing him again tomorrow night, he just needs to sharpen up that gating a little, ready for tomorrow.

A really good night. The family and I all enjoyed it (especially with a last heat 5-1 to win it.

The presentation was slick and I agree that the new presenter did a very good job. Some of the music was a bit dated but that applies to most tracks (and is meant to be a constructive comment rather than criticism).

Excellent move to let the kids in for nothing. They are the future of the sport (hence the music comment).

Well done to the Coventry Promoters for taking the gamble and I hope it proves to be successful. I thought the crowd looked bigger than the 500 mentioned earlier.

Best wishes to Laurence et al and I hope the Bees fans turn out to support the Storm.

About time all you Elite fans gave National League a chance,i have been saying for years its the best speedway you will see.And the times were only two yes two seconds a race slower, that is half a second a lap.Just go and watch National League its great its cheaper and its good racing with passing that you are not used to seeing any more at Elite level and you will have a good night of speedway.Good luck to Mick Horton and all at Coventry for having the guts to give National League a chance. And all the best to Robert Branford hope you have a good season but dont score to many against Buxton or the chicken dinner will be cancelled. Pleased they've signed Robert Branford as he looked very impressive last Friday.

Yep, pleased to see they have signed Rob, it undoubtably strengthens them up, Robs on a good average which he should improve on, unlucky for Trevor heath but he has struggled a little, but an opportunity now for Tommy Fenwick.

I feel sorry for Trevor Heath who will now probably turn his back on speedway and concentrate on grasstrack after being persuaded to come back into it. I thought that Trevor looked much better on Friday night and seemed to be getting back to some form but I suppose that is speedway.

The 2 reserves are travelling about 300 and 200 miles each for their home meetings. Not sure if that is sustainable in the current climate but fair play to them if they have to do it to get rides. Ironically there is rider right on the door step who could have slotted in though to do a similar job??
