Berwick V Edinburgh (league Cup) 20/4/13 @ 7pm

Recommended Posts

This is going to be a hard match to pick a winner from as there was only 2 points in it earlier in the season as the Bandits came out on top. Hopefully this time it will be the other way around.

Teams for Saturday will probably line up like like this:

Berwick 'New Holland' Bandits

  • Ricky Ashworth
  • David Bellego
  • Kozza Smith
  • Matty Wethers
  • Robin Aspegren
  • Alex Edberg
  • Nicki Barrett

Edinburgh ' Scotwaste' Monarchs

  • Craig Cook
  • Derek Sneddon
  • Theo Pijper
  • Max Fricke
  • Claus Vissing
  • Marcel Helfer
  • Josef Tabaka

Cracking meeting in store this weekend, with two evenly matched teams. Berwick will be keen to put last weekends defeat at home to Redcar behind them and should be fired up to prove the loss was a mere blip in a season promising so much.

For Edinburgh they will be looking to continue their strong start to the season and will arrive at Shielfield high on confidence. At the top of the teams, Craig Cook will probably have too much for a returning Ricky Ashworth and should score well. The middle order of the Bandits will be crucial to any chance of success in this meeting, particularly with Max Fricke struggling on his previous visit. At reserve Messers Barrett and Edberg will be keen to prove the doubters wrong and deliver good scores.

A fired up Berwick to win by no more than 5 points.

Berwick can ill afford two defeats on the spin so this is an indeed an important meeting.Edinburgh will of course prove difficult opponents but with one or two well chosing words in the riders ears from their manager I think Berwick are capable of a most welcome home win.

The Bandits will need to be a lot sharper at the gate for this one and we cant afford to give up any soft points . I'm sure Cook & co will need to second invitation to take the initiative if we give them the chance , I'd also expect to se a lot of Tabaka . A decent result here will give us a good chance of progressing through to the later stages of the league cup . Lets hope for a good meeting , some decent racing and a healthy win for the men in black and gold .

Do you not think Edinburgh will win at Glasgow in the League Cup which will surely dent our chances irrespective of Saturdays result.

Guess it all comes down to which team has the best gaters on the night and first out of bend two as after that races are over.

I truely hope not,Id be hoping that lessons were learned from last week and the track on saturday night will give the riders something they can work with.

After reading the article in SS I think the Management should prepare what THEY think is a raceable track and tell the riders that THEY should adapt to the track instead of experimenting week in week out, you will never keep 7 riders happy regarding track prep, If the track is consistant each week that is all the Management can do for their part.IMO the racing has been poor this season for whatever reasons.I know the weather has not been kind to track prep so far this season can only hope it improves to help track prep.

I liked your idea last weekend about taking some of the banking off bends 3 and 4 so that riders have to slow down coming into it.

Not many decent riders shut off coming into that 3rd bend right enough.

I don't know much about all this track stuff - as I openly admit - but that sounds very logical to me.
