foamfence
I don't think it is definite yet. ................... unless you know different. Personally I think and hope that Speedway will continue on SKY. Apart from anything else they seem to be trying awfully hard with new innovations for a Sport that they intend dumping in the future. I JUST HOPE I'M RIGHT!!! Me too! I wish SKY would get rid of that dim bird who hangs out in the pits and seems to be trying to win a contest for asking the most stupid questions imaginable. mickthemuppet
I do not think Sky will drop their Monday night Elite(and some premier) league Speedway. Why would they be trying different ideas like having a small team, reporting from the other tracks. If they are finishing with league speedway at the end of the season ,why would they bother trying different innovations. The GP's are a different matter as there is so much sport to fit in on a Saturday. Eurosport showed the Women's tennis from Rome live all the week but the final was recorded. Sky advertised the Nadal v Federer at 4pm at which time the first set had already been completed. Sky had also shown matches live all the week until it got to Saturday. moxey63
It came over as a well promoted meeting, which says something about how things are taken for granted. Going back 14 years, to when SKY first began covering live Elite League matches, EL promoters did their part to make the crowd decent and put on a lot better showpiece than they do at the moment. Now, back to last night. Because it was a one-off, Berwick and the riders on parade, as well as supporters, recognised it as a plum date... and they didn't dissapoint the viewers at home. It says, perhaps, that we become stale of the same thing over and over, and next week's match between Poole and King's Lynn is already being yawned at by this hard-to-please fella. Let's have more variety. Promoters have shown they can promote, but perhaps not every week of a seven months season. As a one-off, they have proved they can capture an evening.

Why should promoters be thought not to promote every week? What was on TV last night (excluding the fans in fancy dress, I admit) was what I've seen at Berwick any time I've been there, with lively, crisp presentation and a smartly-dressed track staff. Congratulations, Messrs Anderson, Hepburn, McCleary, Barrie, etc -- you continue to set a high bar to clear for some other places I know. In all three leagues.
Backless
Why would they be trying different ideas like having a small team, reporting from the other tracks. If they are finishing with league speedway at the end of the season ,why would they bother trying different innovations. Because if it chucks it down, or there's a bad crash causing a delay, they can't whack 20 minutes of the SGP we all watched two days earlier on to "entertain" us while everyone goes for a cuppa. As for the 4G - and even 3G - updates inserted in what puppets to be an HD broadcast, it's playing with technology that may or may not be rolled out into other programming. The don't "do" dry runs - hence the toy helicopter fail during the recent Belle Vue match.
crescent girl
I wish SKY would get rid of that dim bird who hangs out in the pits and seems to be trying to win a contest for asking the most stupid questions imaginable. I think she gets saddled with dim questions through her earpiece. When interviewed on the grass last night by Dick Barrie, Charlie Webster seemed a different girl, giving bright, witty answers, and acknowledging the magnificently-rowdy crowd on the third bend. The Grand National winning jockey was also a good interviewee. A happy, cheerful night, despite the result.
SCB
Quite agree - I have been saying this too. I can't remember a 'bad' Premier League Meeting on SKY. Personally I think that the Meetings SHOULD be shared out better than they are. I too would like a look at a National League Meeting - after all, this is where our future 'Stars' will come from hopefully.Well, apart form the Rye House vs Iow, Reading vs Rye House, Edinburgh vs Rye House (rubbish, theres a connection here, Rye House LOL), Birmingham vs Sheffield (the rain didnt help that and it's probably unfair to include it) and Newcastle vs Glasgow. Yet meetings from Somerset and Scunthorpe have been good but thats because they're good tracks and not because it was PL. There been as a % as many crap Pl meeting as EL meetings but you forget them and remember the good ones just as you will at any level. I can still describe to you lap-by-lap Mark Loram winning in Linkoping Sweden in 1999 as it was a great race but ask me who was in any particular heat of Newcastle vs Glasgow and I wouldnt have a clue as Ive all but forgotten it,. Reading v Rye was a good meeting.
screm
I Personaly was disappointed with Kennett a rider of his experience should have been able to dial into the track for his later races, unlike Kozza and Matty who bust a gut he just went through the motions IMO although the track did slicken off in the later heats and made passing difficult ,maybe a track grade and a light water would have helped. Excellent point and one I agree with,it looks like we will have to make do with a guest for the visit of Ipswich as Kennett has be drawn in the GP Qualifier at St.Johan. SCB
Your memory is fading, must be getting old. Reading v Rye was a good meeting. Maybe I was still in EL snob mode back then. I'll be honest, I dont remember much about it other than Tai team riding Tommy 2 laps home ahead of Tom P Madsen and people going mad - anyone could team ride someone home ahead of Tommy P, cover the inside line and he was not passing anyone
screm
Theres been a number of posts critisizing Paul Starkes "professional foul" last night and rightly so,now he isnt the 1st rider to do this but hopefully will be one of the last, lets not go over board with,he did wrong and Im certain he will learn from it.

No argument, but as we are informed he was fined £100, and hopefully will learn a lesson from it. How much were Newcastle fined for presenting an understrength team?
screm
How much were Newcastle fined for presenting an understrength team? Lets us all be thankful that Newcastle didnt turn up with a full team, the four that beat us last night were more than enough to handle.

As he has the highest average in the entire PL, at least the choice of guest can be a wide one. Indeed, it could range into the EL too, with a couple of juicy names available under his EL figure!. Berwick should be glad if Newcastle presented an under strength Team otherwise they would have be humiliated.who said speedway rules are not stupid!!! Just what we need a:different guest every week don't think that will bring the crowd flocking back .
Backless
It's a shame the Berwick promotion bought Starke a race suit, what with the tar & feather combo he'll be wearing if some on here get their way.

Apart from the dive Starke had another useful meeting for Berwick.
