acclennell
As NJC71 stated I stand by my earlier comments. However I want to congratulate George and the riders on a fantastic performance and the committment and determination they demonstrated was outstanding. I didn't give the team a hope in hell but I'm over the moon to say they proved me wrong big time! Edited May 21, 2013 by acclennell
Pinny
Newcastle looking every bit like champions now. Had lindgren been there this would of been a right drubbing for berwick. Â Hard to say where berwick go from here, with kennett in the side they look a superb outfit on paper.
bamber
Nice gesture by George Hepburn to give Paul Starke a kiss on the "helmet" after his slide off when he walked back into the pits...

Chewbacca
Just got home. So pleased I went in the end. A magnificent performance, epic pies, a good crowd, some decent speedway racing and someone to take on the comedy booing stooge position from Havvy Junior. Â A warm reception awaits Mr Starke on his next visit to Brough. Boooooooo.
speedwaysliders
The reff should have the power to kick Paul Starke out the rest of the meeting for what he did if not be banned for the next Berwick meeting. Â Why?--- The fact that Robson and Kozza looked like crashing with knowone giving an inch,i felt he put the bike down fearing a big smash ahead, and how they stayed on was amazing.BUT i do agree after laying the bike down he milked it big time by not getting off the track, but i honestly think his first actions to lay the bike down was genuine.
bigeddiechek
What a fantastic meeting, two in a row. Pity about the result - from my point of view - but Newcastle were pretty solid and thoroughly deserved the win. The meeting could have gone either way quite easily, but the Diamonds upped their game in the latter part of the meeting. Â Everyone involved with the running of Berwick Speedway should be very proud of what they have been achieving with the club, and I am so glad that this has been shown to the speedway world via Sky Sports. Â The fans really turned out to support the club, a great effort there too. Â It's also worth saying that Nigel Pearson and Chris Louis where complete gentlemen. It was never any trouble for them to have time to interact with the fans, and they also came into the crowd to have photos taken at the beginning and the end of the meeting. Â Who would have thought a Tuesday evening could be so much fun! That's what it looked like to me too. He certainly looked to be avoiding a collision, but he did take a while to get up: it happens in speedway quite frequently though...
stoneylegend
enjoyed watching it tonight, sorry newcastle but prior the meeting i had a berwick 55 diamonds 35 score predicted. And was i wrong i think starkes......."move" fired the newcastle team up more than anything deserved winners tho. Hope Kerr rides like thats for us on Sat night. Â Good speedway well done both teams and berwick speedway
Fromafar
I saw that and wondered who it was, silly thing to do I agree as part of the Promotion it was not very clever. Now if he had won the race you could understand it.
Chewbacca
And by the way, Edinburgh and Somerset are stronger than the Diamonds. Â I'll be happy to make the playoffs and fluke the "title" though.

I agree regarding his fall, plus any rider can fall at any time but I think he should have attempted to clear the track.Kozza is an example of sportsmanship bearing in mind the speed he went down he made the effort for the race to continue .Well done Kozza.
mauger
Great performance by the Diamonds. Really impressed with the track and the most passing I have seen at Berwick. I think some of the comments on Starke are harsh. Yes a very silly thing to do but it has happened for years, just hope the ref fined him

He was 100 yards behind ffs, it was blatant cheating IMO, yet in heat 2 Steve worrall went down, berwick were in a 5-1, but got up and cleared the track, starkes actions were nothing short of disgraceful and you can tell by the bloke who more or less condoned his actions in his return to the pits... They'll have speedway done away with.
cyclone
And by the way, Edinburgh and Somerset are stronger than the Diamonds.  I'll be happy to make the playoffs and fluke the "title" though.  You're having a giraffe  Diamonds have by far the best 1 - 6 in the league, with only Ipswich currently having a better reserve combination.  Barring injuries, Newcastle should clean up all the team trophies.  Lewis Kerr btw came across as a modest, unassuming individual when interviewed, and it looks like a two horse race between him & Adam Ellis as the best PL newcomer this season.
