screm
You need thermals even when the sun is out in Berwick True, but its the best we can do.Bit cloudier than before but still dry and reasonably bright. Sad that Newcastle arent coming with a full side, and thats bound to have stopped a few from coming up,might actually stop a few from Berwick popping along to,but what can you do.I think Berwick will win,and probably by 10-12pts,but I hope hope theres plenty of good racing for the watching millions. Tsunami
I think there needs to be some questions asked looking at the article below. It's alright saying 2 of the promotion wanted the fixture to be pulled but then proceed in going ahead with the fixture. You can't try and blame something and then go ahead with it either way. This leaves a sour taste and I expect nothing more than Berwick getting maximum points tonight by a good margin, when potentially there was a very decent chance of an away win and a brilliant encounter. http://www.chronicle...k-hands-3902152 Bit naive to say they wanted to pull out, and then criticise them for going ahead. Rules are rules and members of BSPA can't pick and choose when things go against you. Do you really think it is honourable for a club like Newcastle to walk out of this fixture when the going got a bit tough for them. There's a lot of badly joined up thinking on here at times.

I agree either don't accept the fixture in the first place or don't then criticise for having to go ahead with it once you have made that decision. Come September this decision may come back to haunt the promotion.
Arson fire
You're always wining about something. she does some winein like Bit naive to say they wanted to pull out, and then criticise them for going ahead. There's a lot of badly joined up thinking on here at times. but the badly joined up thinking surely rests at their door, it's ok accommodating people or tv, but you don't do that to the detriment of your chances. They should have made sure of all riders availability, sought a decision from the Bspa etc before agreeing, that just common sense Dave...... Nevermind we may suprise we never know... Chris
Poppycock from the Newcastle promotion. Knew all along they would be understrength for this fixture when they accepted the change of date. if they had anything about them they would have declined due to being understrength, but put in a pathetic request for R/R which was never going to be given to try and show they cared about the credibility of the meeting/PL. All about the publicity and to hell with anything else.

SCB
I can only begin to imagine the feet stamping, moaning and claims the PL fans would make if this was an EL meeting. A rider missing on each team? Ascot people saying it makes the sport look a shambles on Sky, why? They're not going to mention tbe reasons why and go into detail so the casual fan will never know anyway. Looking forward to a bit of egg and chips later. Goo an the diamonds Perhaps they thought that both the Swedes would get exemption or cancel each other out if picked, but surely Newcastle are going to try and keep a TV meeting with NE teams, as it is good for the area. A request to the MC for a facility was obviously the next logical step, but after refusal, it IS badly joined up thinking if anybody then thinks the next step should be to have a tantrum and refuse to ride the fixture. What would acclennell, and others, have said if Newcastle had pulled out putting the broadcast into jeopardy, and obviously affecting their chance of appearing in a TV match again, and lessoning the chance of us in the NE of getting more TV meetings. It is alright saying they should have done this and done that now, but what would have happened if Newcastle fielded a full side tonight and Berwick were denied the services of both Bellego and Robin A. Would Berwick then be castigated in the same way if they had chucked off, and refused to host the meeting. I think not,

I think not, I never said that at all - my whole point is that once you have committed to the fixture; then don't criticise having to then fulfill the fixture within the local press as the promotion have done today. Surely the promotion should then have ensured what effect in rearranging this fixture would have been before committing to it? If they have assumed or thought things would of happened then that is not very professional and I would hope that would not be the case. Obviously the promotion is split on their thoughts concerning the fixture or why mention that fact within the local press. NJC71
Sensible actions for Newcastle. Approached by sky/BSPA/whoever to run this meeting on TV on a Tuesday. 1. Check rider availability 2. Realise Ludvig might be unavailable 3. Ask BSPA if we can use a second facility if necessary 4. Answer = no, then turn down request on the basis that they can't put out a strong enough side. I'm sure another northern side could have stepped in and I don't see how that would in any way penalise Newcastle in the future. Getting thumped tonight certainly won't help them. What they've seemingly done is commit to the fixture without following those basic steps. Yes they'd be wrong to pull out now but the above checks are surely the process you'd follow before committing to any fixture change regardless of whether its on TV. I'm afraid Newcastle have cocked-up here. Hope the 5 Diamonds can rally around and pull something out of the hat but given two of them are not 100% fit I fear the worst. Two members of the promotion are not on the MC, you work it out.

Yes but then don't go whining in the local press when you agreed to the decision of the fixture change, which is the point I'm putting across. NJC71 summed it up perfectly above.
