Grand Central
From the 'Construction News' - http://www.constructionenquirer.com/2013/07/29/isg-wins-10m-speedway-and-basketball-centre/ Thankfully it is just a heavily edited version of the Belle Vue Speedway statement from last week. Conveying exactly the same information. Edited July 29, 2013 by Grand Central
Guest
It's some time since there was an update on the National Speedway Stadium. How are things progressing and when could we anticipate the start of speedway there? How many bricks have so far been sold to supporters? I only raise my query as this April 2013 link indicates something positive for next year. http://www1.skysports.com/speedway/news/14464/8628993/ Edited November 11, 2013 by Guest
pandorum
The Grand Opening next March/April will be huge for the sport. It must be well on it's way to completion by now and Belle Vue will be all ready to move into it's state of the art facilities.

pandorum
Is this sarcasm...or some facts? definitely sarcasm. There is as much chance of this happening as there is of I'm A Celebrity's next series being held just outside of Pyongyang.

I reckon Slough Speedway will be running, before even the foundations are laid!
PHILIPRISING
definitely sarcasm. WE will revisit this post and accept your profound apology in just a few weeks. Sure, things have and still are moving slowly but that is the way bureaucracy works. This project doesn't just include a speedway stadium but a lot more. It will happen...

There is more chance of I'm A Celebrity's in Pyongyang than that Phil. Mayhap it will happen mayhap it won't happen but as this has been going on since what 2010 I am long past caring to be honest Love to hear some good news of this project Philip. but there will be no apology from him despite him usually being all mouth. I had forgotten about you you pathetic little troll. I don't know you from Adam and you don't know me but still you make assumptions based on some silly message forum. Sure, things have and still are moving slowly but that is the way bureaucracy works. This project doesn't just include a speedway stadium but a lot more. It will happen... The "just a few weeks" bit of that post suggests that some promising news is soon incoming. Really do hope that this is the case! Even the most blinkered of optimist must surely be fearing the worst with regards to this long-running saga. Combined with the likely cessation of the TV funds and the widespread reported losses I honestly expected the next news to be the announced closure of Belle Vue. Fingers firmly crossed that you're correct on this....
BWitcher
I had an interesting discussion with regards to this whole project a few weeks ago on a flight back to Portugal. The gentleman I was sat next too has a construction business that is likely to be involved in this project. He seems 100% certain it will be going ahead, mainly due to the involvement of the Man City owners. I meant to post at the time when the info he gave me was fresher in my head, so forgive me for lack of details. It all sounded positive however... but as others have said, these things take time to go through the various planning stages.

MattK
I wonder if Manchester City Council are "doing a Sky" and waiting to see what the Elite League will look like going forwards before borrow £4m to build a new stadium for Belle Vue speedway?
