Belle Vues National Speedway Stadium

Recommended Posts

Has anyone bought a Brick yet? I'm thinking about it. :t:

Yes, I did when they were originally released and am thinking of buying another

At a guess - because they need the Centre Green for Hockey etc.

Yeah noticed that on one of the pictures in one of the articles. However many tracks in Sweden have their 80cc as a stand alone track,

but I guess that it would be to expensive and perhaps not enough space available for that option?

Anyway big congratulations to the British speedway fans in general and the Belle Vue fans in particular to the new stadium. :)

Forget an 80cc track, Let the younger lads ride on the big track.

It will only make them better and that's how Sayfudinov become such a good rider, He used to ride on big fields back in Russia with his scooter.

Gee how wrong we all were picturing you demanding stabilizers be fitted to your moped. Lol i jest ;)

why no 80cc track?

God that would be so invaluable and have the potential to entice many more youngsters to try the sport.

Indeed, so that leads us to question as to whether it has crossed their minds to provide such a standalone track or whether there simply isn't any room to accommodate one. I'd love to know the answer only as Ghostwalker points out there are many such tracks in Sweden and Denmark.

Well there was no junior track at Hyde Road and its fair to say that produced a string of top young locally based riders. Also theres supposed to be a workshop area where young riders will learn engine maintainance and settings so perhaps there will be better facilities for youngsters as the stadium is going to be a training centre for British speedway in general.

Honest answer: YES!! :t::approve: :approve:

It is really though?

For example, all the revenue from Twickenham goes to the RFU, where as at this stadium, as far as I'm aware, all the money will go to Belle Vue speedway. So if that is the case, the "National Speedway Stadium" name is little more than a marketing gimmick.

I understand that facilities for Training and Mechanical School (for want of a better name) will be at Belle Vue. So if that is so, and it is available to ALL would be Riders throughout the Country - then it is indeed a NATIONAL Stadium.

Also - if holding Big Meetings there, International Matches, SWC etc. - then I think the name 'National Stadium' is pretty good and not the misnomer that you imply. It is certainly NOT a Marketing gimmick.

I don't think it's meant to represent the takings from pie & mash with a stout to wash it down.

It's more about Belle Vue ( using that here in its geographical sense) getting back to producing British youngsters. I good while ago, but still in the GP era we had Screen, Stonehewer and Smith all in the series together having qualified. All were ex Colts and the point is that not every rider coming through the system stays with the Aces like PC and Mort, but go on the successfully represent other UK teams. So in that sense it benefits the sport nationally.

With the 2014 SWC looming and this stadium which was to be built for the 2012 SWC still nothing more than a pie in the sky fantasy the question remains is this a feasible concept or nothing more than a scam to sell bricks for 50 quid.

When you consider that the website set up for this project is nothing more than a place to buy a very expensive brick it seems more and more to me to be a scam.

http://nationalspeedwaystadium.com/

The FAQ section contains 8 FAQ which are ALL regarding buying bricks. I would have thought that years after the project was first put forward there would be several thousand more FAQ than the 8 here.

I wonder if anyone has been insane enough to hand these people 50 quid for a brick that they will probably never see. Personally I would not trust this crew with 50p let alone 50 quid if after all this time the website for the project is so threadbare and brick sale orientated.

Feasible or Scam?

That is a very interesting question.

Looking at the website scam seems favourite.

Patience Pandorum patience - these things can't be rushed. I don't know what is going on - but - I do know that where Councils are involved things DO move exceeding SLOW.

I worked in the building industry for 40 years mate :)

Still the website contains nothing apart from brick sales and the website should not be affected by council lethargy. The FB page has not been updated for over a year.

The FAQs gets me as there are loads of FAQs that supporters are asking than how to buy a brick.

I can't remember whether this became a 'reality' in 2010 or 2011 but there has been plenty of time to formulate a website that informs the prospective brick buyer.

I wonder when this whole project goes belly up whether the brick buyers will get their 49 quid back :)

Having seen many projects touted which were much more realistic than this tin shed fall by the wayside it does not look good. that the only active part of the project involves fans giving money to buy a virtual brick. :(

It's reminicent of that bloke who wanted us here to give money to finance his speedway drama. :)

I dont think it was ever a scam but feasible?. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to be wrong but I have thought, and said so, that right from the off this was never going to happen.

I sincerely hope that you are wrong Pandorum. I must admit that the lack of up to date information is worrying - but - I will continue to believe that it is going to happened until it is confirmed by Belle Vue that it is not.

HAVE posted elsewhere that the builders have been appointed by the council and they are pursuing planning permission which should be no more than a formality although it still has to go through the right channels and takes time.

The builders are a very large international company for whom this £6 million project should be a breeze.
